You could always give them an extra 0.5-1oz in one or more of the bottles if you want to see if she'd take it. But I agree with others that if she seems satisfied and is eating that spaced out, it's probably fine!

Neither of my LOs consistently drank more than 5-6oz per bottle. I knew some babies at LO1s daycare that would take 7-8oz though!

@csross217: Generally the number of OZs throughout the day doesn't change much between 1-6 months. It doesn't sound like she's trying to make up for lacking ounces by eating through the night. I think you're good.

My DS is six months old and drinks 3 5oz bottles at daycare (there from 8-5:30). He nurses 4 or 5 additional times per day/night when we are together. I pump more than he drinks regularly but he seems satisfied so we haven't pushed it.

My DD at the same age drank 4 6oz bottles. She only nursed 2 or 3 additional times though (ahhh, my dream baby who STTN).

As long as she is gaining well and seems satisfied between bottles I wouldn't worry about it!

@kiddosc: She has a dreamfeed at 9:30 and then nurses again at 2 AM usually. She wakes up 1 or 2 more times during the night but falls back asleep quickly without nursing.

@kayla0416: @SKINNYCOW: @gingerbebe: Thank you! I think I'm just worrying too much since I pump more than she was eating from her bottles.

If she seems content and is going 3.5 hours between feedings, it sounds like that's good. Does she wake up a lot to nurse at night?

My son is 4.5 months and he eats 4 times a day, 4 hours apart. So he takes 6-7oz bottles of pumped milk.

That sounds about right based on the 1-1.5oz/hour rule. My DD is almost 7 months and she's been taking three 5 oz bottles for 10 hours at daycare. I usually pump a bit more than that while I'm at work.

My daughter is 5 months and takes 3 4 oz. bottles at daycare. She is breastfed at 7am, then bottles of pumped milk at approx. 9:30, noon, and 2:30, then breastfed at 5pm (and bedtime and one night feed). If your bottles are every 3.5 hours, I think 5 oz. is appropriate! I found this page very helpful: http://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/milkcalc/.

Hi All,

How much did your LO eat at 5-6 months old?

DD is 5.5 months old and EBF. I leave 3 5oz bottles for her while I'm at work and she guzzles them all down. When I pump, I usually produce between 5-7 oz per side during each session. This along with the fact that she finishes her entire 5oz bottle makes me think she might need to eat more while I'm at work? It seems like she must get about 7oz while she's nursing since that's how much I pump (I block feed and pump because of oversupply). She always seems content when she's done with her bottle though. She eats about every 3.5 hours. Should I leave more in bottles for her during the day? Am I just worrying too much?
