I used the one oz per hour to guess how much I needed. Not on purpose, but rather if she cried or if anything at all made her cry, they automatically assumed she was hungry. And while it worked, she ended up being fed as much as 2-3x what she'd normally eat. So I left a few smaller bottles to try to discourage them dumping 6+ ounces into her. But I realize most breastfed kids feed more frequently.
