Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I guess after 5 days of his only option being water the kid started to catch on! He drank 8+ oz of it Saturday and Sunday!

In case anyone is wondering our pedi said 24 total ounces of liquid per 24 hours, so for DS that is only 8 oz past what he gets from formula. I don't think that is too much for mama to ask :)

Have you tried adding ice to water? I found my DD will drink more when it's cold :)

Well my son eats hardly any variety, so I get it about not even wanting to try.

Ice pops?

@looch: @Bao: @keiki_mama: We have cups all over and in different types of containers. He wont drink any. I tried making him smoothies and he won't even taste them. So frustrating...

Could you try offering water another way? LO isn't quite 1 yet but she thinks it's cool to drink from an open cup and a bendy straw.

My son is 2.5 and I would estimate that he drinks about 16 ounces of water per day. He might also supplement that with a small box of apple juice, about 2 ounces.

He has 11 ounces of milk in the morning and 11 ounces at night.

To get him to drink, I place cups all over his area. I might also get him to drink a bit more by offering water in a sports bottle.

Total liquids. All I can find is a milk breakdown and we can't so milk.

DS recently started refusing all liquids but his "box" (formula that comes in a juice box). He can only tolerate 2 boxes/day which is 16 oz. He has always refused water so we used to dilute at least 1 box with 60% water, but now he won't even drink it that way. In an effort to get him drinking water we have only been giving a formula box first thing AM and last thing PM....in between water, with yesterday the first day strictly doing this without caving and he only drank 5 oz water, so 21 oz total for the day. I'm not sure if that's enough or how to get him drinking...
