Xander drank three 5oz bottles at daycare (sometimes four bottles, but that last one was always at the end of the day and we skipped our normal nursing session when that happened) at that age.

@BabyMats: I EP, my LO is 5 months and I leave three five oz bottles for when I'm gone. I leave at 6:45 am and get home at 4 pm. She eats when she wakes up around 7, at 9, at1, and then right when I get home or around 4:30.

I should add, my LO is not a big eater and is 88% for height and 26% for weight so we don't do paced feedings at all. We try to get her to eat all 5 oz at every feeding and would happily give her more if she would take it.

I think the generic recommendation would be to start with 9-12 ounces split in to 3 or 4 bottles and to ask your daycare provider to use the paced method of bottle feeding. You can also reduce the amount of milk required by feeding lo at drop off and as soon as you pick your LO up.

Another tip I read was that if your LO is nursing eight times a day when at home, trying to keep up the eight sessions of either pumping or nursing once you're back at work should help maintain supply.

La Leche says that EBF babies should take between 1 1/2 and 2 oz per hour they are away from momma. So total should be 2* the hours away from you. Personally I would recommend putting them in smaller ounces (2 or 3 at a time) so they can feed multiple bottles if they need to. One thing that has come up often on these forums is that daycares aren't necessarily used to breastfed babies and more used to formula fed babies. And there are major differences between them. Kelly's Mom website has some great information on pumping and feeding.

My LO is 3 months and I EP...she takes between 4-6oz per feeding...I'd say in the course of a day she eats 23ish oz, give or take a few ounces

Just asked DH and he said she drinks 4-5oz per feeding. Amount of feedings depends on when she wakes up (he's good now about keeping her occupied if it's close to when I'm supposed to come home, so he can hold off giving her another bottle until I get there). 3 feedings while I'm away is typical; sometimes 2, sometimes 4. I work 8-4:30, and spend about a half hour in commute each way, so about 9 1/2 hours out of the house total?

Forgot to say that E is 4 months and 14 lbs, 7 oz :)

Ok so I go back to work on Monday :crying: :crying: :crying: and I have been stockpiling since when I pump I don't usually get much out. I will be doing three sessions of pumping at work but I'm scared the first week is going to mess up my supply since they did the scheduling wrong and it won't be like every 2/12 to 3 hours. I don't really know how much he takes a day oz wise since I have only been ebf. I been working on a bottle and he had been slowly taking it but just a few oz here and there. He is4 months old and what I'm assuming a very healthy eater considering he is 17 lbs. How much did your lo drink a day? He will be at home so plenty frozen milk just in case.

Thanks for reading!
