@bushelandapeck: I loveeee my outback so much and have the option to get a new car next year. I have considered something with a 3rd row but not sure if I can part with my outback. I am pretty petite so it's easy for me to get back there, but I think with a second convertible it will just be too small.

@matador84: we have an outback too. I'm finding it to be way to small for me to sit comfortably in the back with LOs. DS has a large convertibles seat though, which doesn't help. We are looking to get something bigger this spring.

@jetsa: yup- I'm bringing our car seat and installing it before we buy anything. We have a Nextfit which is better than many in terms of front to back space but we will also be adding an infant seat again. We are moderately tall (5'10" and 5'7") and Dh pushes the drivers seat way back.

@littleveesmommy: these are two of the top choices. I love the Lexus RX but I'm jut afraid we will end up wanting more space. But it's pretty rare that we drive other people... Dh was going to test drive a few today bits it's sleeting at the moment.

We just upsized to a Toyota Highlander earlier this year in anticipation of DD2's arrival and so far it's been very useful. We had a Midsized SUV (Lexus RX-350) but with two car seats it would have only fit 2 adults in front and we needed room for my parents who don't drive. We leave the third row of seats folded most of the time and my mom will sit in front while I sit in back between the two girls. We pop the third row up when we have a fourth or more adult in the car. Only thing is with the third row up the trunk space is very small but other than that it is great. We were able to keep the Radiant RXT rear facing behind my husband who is 5'10" with no issue since the second row seats can be adjusted front-to-back.

We have a Pilot also. The RF is definitely tight, but not undoable. We are also not very tall. I was shocked to see how close the RF was to the seat. It was not very well planned out. We also have a hidden 3rd row we never use.

@avivoca: it was great with the seat in the middle and I think it'll be fine once we turn it around. Rf convertible seats are just kind of beasts lol. I love love love it other than that. I also haven't tried to adjust it I just moved it over and latched it in

We recently leased a Nissan Rouge and it easily will fit 2 or 3 adults and 2 car seats. LO's carseat RF still leaves a decent amount of leg room. When our lease is up we will be getting either the Murano or Pathfinder. Overall, I've been extremely happy with the Rouge for the last 3 months. We switched from a Ford Fusion. My MIL has a Ford Escape (older body style) and it isn't as roomy as the Rouge. My parents have a Dodge Journey and love it. It has a small third row that folds down to trunk space when not using it. It's roomy with my Los car seat in it.

We have a Nissan Pathfinder and it is EXTREMELY helpful having the 3rd row... Not necessarily for the third row seating (though that has come in handy and we use it semi-often when the in laws are in town, when we go on road trips with friends and don't want to take two cars) but mostly for the extra trunk room.
We can fit so so much more in there than our CRV which can handle the stroller and not much else.

Especially once we have a 2nd LO, we will appreciate the trunk space and extra seating so much more. I've sat in the third row for a 4 hour round trip and it was surprisingly roomy. The second row slides so even with a car seat installed it's easy to get to the third row.

I have an outback, currently an infant seat and convertible in back. I can sit in back middle when needed and two adults in front. It will prob be tighter in back when I have to get a second convertible seat.

@jetsa: I've been eying the pilot, but not if the passenger seat is so tight w/ a car seat! My legs would never fit there.

I drive a Versa, which could fit two car seats and two adults. We are looking for a larger vehicle do when we add # 2.

I have a chrystler town and country and it seats seven. I could put 4 carseats in there comfortably. Second row has captain seats and the whole thing is stow and go so I can also carry a lot of cargo, if needed.

I think our next car will probably be a Toyota Highlander. The second row slides up so you can easily get into the third row.

Right now we have a Scion XB. With one convertible carseat in the middle, the seats on either side are really tight. I am actually afraid that we will have trouble fitting a second carseat next year.

We have a little Volvo. With 1 carseat in the back, the passenger seat becomes mighty cozy. At max, 3 adults and 1 carseat. But it's too small to accommodate 2 carseats.

@Foodnerd81: I'd check the car seat rf in anything you test drive then bc even in my relatively large pilot I have zero room in the passenger seat with the convertible car seat rf behind it. I can only move the seat back about 3" from here with the car seat it was fine when it was in the middle but it's really tight bc I moved it. I couldn't put in behind the drivers bc I couldn't comfortablely drive. My only hope is that the infant seat will fit in the middle until I turn DS ff. we have a graco size4me 70

We have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Fact: It can fit four adults (tight if you're plus size like me) and one car seat.
Assumptions: Can fit 2 adults and two car seats.
No idea: Can it fit 3 car seats in back? Or 2 car seats and a small adult?

I have a Toyota 4Runner with the 3rd row of seats, which is different from other 3rd rows as it's not a real 3rd row and is 2 "jump seats". The plus of these is that you can get to them via the cargo area so you wouldn't have to fold down the row to get to them, the downside is they are, well, jump seats. Not really great for a longish drive. Not utilizing those we easily fit LO's RF car seat in the back along with 2 good sized adults. If we had 2 car seats, you could still fit a decent sized adult in the middle.

I'm thinking about getting something larger, or with a more real/dedicated 3rd row because we go out with my parents and MIL often (almost weekly) and it's a pita to have to bring 2 cars.

If you have the car seat behind the passenger seat (or will have one behind the passenger seat once you have another LO) I wouldn't worry about getting a car with a third row because then you'll have to uninstall the car seat anytime you want to fold down the seat for someone to climb into the third row.

We JUST bought a Toyota Rav4 & I adore it, but we will have 2 car seats in April & I'm fairly certain that it will just fit the two car seats & two adults. We rarely go out as a family though (DH works hard & is a homebody) & I'm not usually our with anyone other than LO'S & maybe one other person so it's not a huge deal to me.

Being able to drive people around is why I have a Honda Pilot. I have 3 younger sisters and although all have their licenses now it's easier to just be able to drive. My middle row will be almost full with 2 rf car seats a small adult would be squished.

We are shopping for a new car, going from our current mid size sedan to a small or mid size SUV. Currently have one LO but plan on two. Hoping to have this car for a long time.

I'm currently trying to decide how much I care about seating people other than our immediate family- most of the as we are looking at will fit two adults and two car seats, maybe squeeze a small adult in between. But then you pretty much can never drive anyone else around? Some of the cars have a third row that folds down- so usually it's trunk space but can seat more people (like a Toyota highlander or Acura mdx). Is that really helpful? Or does it not really matter? I kind if want to keep it as small as possible while meeting all our needs.

Eta: we don't drive a ton and will only have one car for a while. Live in the city for now.
