Our living room set and bedroom set is new, we bought them when we moved in our new home. We have a guest bedroom set, desk, dining set, chairs, and a couch in our office from our old house. We've phased out a lot of our second hand items, other than a few end tables and a bed in our other guest room. We have a Stickley rocker (that will seriously last FOREVER), a Stickley buffet, and my mom's old dining table (which we'll probably not ever get rid of). We also bought a really nice bed for our room. The rest is functional but going to go extinct in our house eventually! I brought: I didn't buy these things, but brought them from my parents house: bed, dresser, bed side table Bought for us: my mom bought our kitchen table/chairs and our TV stand when we first moved in together. Inlaws bought us a wine rack as a house warming gift when we moved into our new home. Prior to buying our home, we had a lot of hand-me-downs from DH's parents including our coffee table, two couches, and desk when we were in our apartment. When we bought our new house we got new everything. So furniture wise, we paid for everything together (joint accounts) but I chose most of it. My BFF and I designed the whole master bedroom and picked everything and DH was thrilled he didn't have to go shopping! I think DH has a desk and chair that he has had since before we met but that is it. I got a great deal on a couch set and goodwill and inherited an old couch when a friend left her place (I think in 2005) and we still have the same stuff. Eventually we will upgrade and pick something out together but right now having old, well-loved furniture is a good fit as we don't mind spit up and sticky hands on them. It's sort of been accumulated slowly over the years, everything we didn't buy or acquire at our last or current house came from me, though. Downstairs we have a couch, chair, coffee and end tables, desk, 2 bookshelves and another bed. The only thing we bought new were the couche and chair downstairs, everything else came with us from our parents houses (beds) or was purchased second hand on kijiji or at yardsales. It's mostly really nice stuff, we've been very lucky at scoring some good deals. Now we have a couch, a chair, an ottoman, a dining table and a few desks. Plus a few dressers + cribs + nursing chair. I think all our furniture was bought by Mrs. Bee. That's great, because if I were left to my own devices I would probably be living on folding chairs and card tables. How many pieces of furniture do you have, and who bought most of it?
