My name probably says it all...
I have about 40 cake/pie/tart/cupcake pans. It's a real problem

I love to cook too and this is what I use on a regular basis:
Mainly we use s, m, l pots
Medium skillet
large cast iron skillet
medium nonstick skillet (mostly for eggs).
Also a 9x13 baking dish and a cookie sheet (great for roasting veggies and baking).

Have many others but these are the staples. If you are trying to pear down I would suggest going with larger sizes of everything and skipping the smaller ones. Also a Dutch oven is very versatile - can be used as a large pot and for roasting/baking.

I also have a Pyrex baking set that I use all the time, but I bake things pretty consistenly :)

It's funny you ask this because I've always thought we had waaay too many pots and pans and my MIL just bought us a whole new huge set without asking us first.. !! We threw out all of our old stuff, but still have waaay too many. All I need is one large pot for boiling pasta or making soups/chili, one large frying pan and my large saute pan that I make everything else in (like pasta sauce, stir-fry's, etc.). But the set she bought us has like 3 different size sauce pans which we never use, 3 frying pans and several different sized pots.

regularly, I use our skillet, a medium sized non-stick frying pan, 3 pots (s, m, l), a casserole dish, a cookie sheet and that's it! I would love to have a smaller non-stick fry pan for when I'm just cooking one egg for LO or something, but we do fine with what we have!

What i NEED for everyday: 1 le creuset dutch oven, 1 small saucepan, 1 large cast-iron skillet, 1 baking sheet, 1 casserole dish.

I don't really use the other stuff unless we are entertaining.

I would say we have 7 pots/pans we use regularly:

1 Large 3 inch deep pan with a lid - stainless steel

1 medium stainless steel saute pan

1 small stainless steel saute pan

1 medium nonstick saute pan

1 small nonstick saute pan

1 large pot

1 small pot

(we also occasionally use an extra large pot when cooking for a crowd and we have a 2nd large deep pan we use sometimes for holidays when we're doing a lot of cooking all at once).

I could get by on just a few, but I frequently use

4 pots, small, medium, large, and a stock pot. I actually have two identical stock pots which are crucial for canning season.

3 frying pans and 1 grill pan. I could do without the grill pan.

I also have a large electric skillet that we use frequently to make pancakes - I'd hate to give that up.

I have several each of large and small pyrex casserole dishes that I use often. I could get by with just one of each size. I also have various ceramic pie pans that I use infrequently, but couldn't give up.

I also have a small and a large cast iron pan, and a cast iron wok. I could do without those, but I like using them.

I have three (!) slow cookers, too. One of them I use frequently, one only sometimes. The other I could totally get rid of.

I cook a lot, long story short. One of my favorite things!

SO MANY. We got many as gifts when we bought our home.
But, I only use one set and it was a gift from a person who didn't even know me. But, she has good taste:)

I use my nonstick large saute pan, stainless large frying pan and stock pot multiple times a week.

But there are a few cookware items that are essential for certain dishes... we cook burgers on our cast iron griddle, lasagna in our casserole dish, cookies on a cookie sheet, etc.

If I had to pare down, I would keep:

2 frying pans (larger ones)
1 medium saucepan
1 large stock pot
Multiple baking sheets/trays (because they stack easily)
1 casserole dish

I would keep the larger sized items (vs. smaller) because you can always use them to make smaller dishes, but you can't use the small items to make large meals.

Hard to narrow down! This is what I absolutely need, but we have more that gets used less often.

1 10" stainless skillet (or larger)
1 med sized non stick skillet for eggs, pancakes, etc.
3 giant stock pots/Dutch ovens (all-clad, Le Creuset and Staub depending on the recipe, but I could live with 2 if I had to)
1 small sauce pan
1 medium sauce pan

9x13 baking dish

We have a lot of kitchen cabinet space so I have a shameful amount of pots and pans. It's actually not that many, but way more than I need. If I had to pare down, it would probably end up being:

2 frying pans (one small, one large)
1 handled skillet (could be used as a large frying pan or short pot)
Small saucepan
Large saucepan
Large soup pot
1 cookie sheet
1 9x11 baking pan
1 casserole dish

there are quite a few items I own that I use so infrequently, disposable version would totally do the trick (pie pans, loaf pans, etc)

and we have one cast iron pan that we never use.

Of pots and frying pans, 7:
*My go-to 4 quart pot
*A new 2 quart pot, which is actually super useful
*A one quart pot
*My Le Creuset-cast iron is the best
*Grill skillet
*Flat Griddle
*Deep 10-inch saucepan with a lid-great for many, many things

Everything on the list gets used at least once a week, and most of them, much, much more. I also use my 8 inch square and my 9x13 inch glass casserole dishes each week as well.

But I do like to have half sheet trays, cupcake tins, and bread pans around. I use the sheet trays a lot, and the other things probably once every month or two. And I have a few stockpots and a paella pan and wok that I use enough to warrant having them around.

One thing I am missing is a small 6" frying pan. Hopefully, that will be my Christmas present this year!

I rarely use the frying pans. I could probably get by with one. I use pots, stockpots, and the Dutch Oven all the time. Casserole dishes get used like crazy around here (parties) and they seem to always disappear. I have 2 woks that don't get used all that often, take up a bunch of space, but my MIL always uses them when she's over.

I'm paring down everything we own in preparation for a move to a smaller apartment.

On a regular basis, we use three frying pans (small for eggs, medium for just about everything, and large when i'm making a meal for the whole family).

I use 3 pots on a regular basis (small, med, large), and a big le creuset soup pot.

Then I use two baking trays.

My 2 casserole dishes do get used occasionally, and I have a meatloaf casserole dish that's so pretty but I never use. Then of course there's my stock pot, and about 4 other pans (cast iron, stainless, etc) that I never use. I'm thinking of getting rid of everything but one casserole dish and my stock pot.

How many pots and pans do you think you *need*?
