I honestly will probably be getting another large set of plain wooden blocks, a set of the super large cardboard blocks, and more duplo sets as lo gets older. I would rather have blocks than almost any other toys. So many creative ways to play! Regular and mini wooden alphabet blocks, soft rubber blocks with numbers, clear plastic ones with cars and trucks inside, megabloks, some little people ones that came with a wagon, and a handful of lego duplos. The magnatiles I wouldn't really suggest until closer to 2.5-3 years old. I'd say just pick your favorite and then buy more when/if they're interested. We also have a couple sets of Tegu wooden magnetic blocks, magnatiles, and duplo style blocks. Toys rubber big blocks from Target, they were easy for building and soft. Now she plays with wooden letter blocks, as we work on her letters and she likes to stack them. What do you have? How did you choose?
