Nine. To both. Kids will be in school well into June, until the 21st I believe. And they lost two fridays off as well. And yes. Nine hours to get home. He left work at 4 pm and got home after 1 am. There was less than an inch of snow. But it started falling right at rush hour, and Portland, Oregon didn't want to use any salt on the roads due to environmental concerns. Instead they had thousands of cars idling on the freeway, heating the snow up just enough to ice the road over. There were still kids on school buses at 10 pm. It started off as a two hour delay and then turned into a snow day. Yesterday my kids didn't wear jackets and played outside in 60 degree weather. Over night we had snow... crazy weather. We had one of the coldest January's on record. We've both missed 4 days of work due to snow. Local schools have had 9 snow days, I'm not sure how many late starts. My husband had one day in December that it took him 9 hours to drive home from work. It's a 25 mile drive. The two times that we have had delays there was really no reason for it at all. Even today, we really didn't need a snow day - snow didn't even start until 9 am and by the time kids got out of school the roads were getting messy, but were not awful. Come on people, we live in Maine! How many snow days have you had this year?
