We're looking to build a new home which will be somewhere under 2k square feet for 3 beds/2.5 bath + office, plus a full basement (we only plan on having 1, maybe 2 kids). I think layout is as important as size - planned well, smaller homes can be more space friendly than some larger places. I shudder to think of the cost of heating a hugeeeeeee home, or cooling one in summer. As it is, we pay almost $300/month in cooler months just for heat and keep our place at 65. Yikes! </p>
