@Mrs. Oatmeal: I think that's what I'm gonna do. A&A swaddles have multi-purposes. But I'm keeping other swaddles in the package for now, just in case!

I recommend no more than one of a kind to start out with. Probably a pack of A&A blankets, a halo swaddle sack, and a swaddle me. I never figured out how to swaddle, and LO was not a big fan, so we ended up using the halo swaddle sacks with the swaddle loose. LO was born in the summer in a hot climate, but we have air conditioning, and the fleece over a cotton sleeper was the perfect weight for LO as a newborn.

I agree with @rachiecakes: register for one of each, in a variety of sizes, and don't wash the bigger sizes right away. I went through almost every swaddle product on the market trying to get my kid to sleep, something would work for a few weeks, then stop working, then I'd try something else... Luckily I had a good amount of hand me downs!

I washed whatever we were using about twice a week, since it went over pjs or onesies, and I didn't have a spitter. If your baby spits up a lot you may need more.

We started out just doing the A&A blankets for the first couple of weeks, until she got stronger and started breaking out of them.

@LindsayInNY: I overbought for sure (had muslin blankets, swaddlemes, sleep sacks AND pouch-things), but I'd buy one of a few types and see what works. (I have girly swaddles and muslin blankets if you need)

Summer mommas have told me to stick to lightweight A&A blankets for summer babies. I have 7. I'll pick up sleep sacks of needed as we go along!

We have lots of A&A blankets. We used them during the day some and then they became Lo' lovey which is great.

We used Halo sleep sacks and also had a couple thin swaddle me's that I didn't love.

DS was tiny so SwaddleMes or AA blankets as a newborn (4 if no laundry access). Then he got too long for the SwaddleMes so we switched to the Halo swaddle sack and now he sleeps in a Halo sleepsack (3 each if no laundry). We have laundry and after the NB stage 2 was plenty.

We have been double swaddling at night. I tried all those special swaddle things and nothing worked as well. I have like 7 total- wall me if you want to buy them used, I bought them on HB classifieds.

We survived with 2-3 Love to Dream swaddles for night sleep and 2-3 muslin blankets for during the day. I found the swaddles stayed reasonably clean so only wash them twice a week.

I wouldn't buy more than one of any style (other than a pack of A and A blankets) because you might like different things at different ages/sizes. We used the A and A blankets when he was little, then the miracle blanket, the the Velcro swaddleme ones, the Merlin suit. It was a progression of what he could break out of and needing to go to something more secure. I'd also be hesitant to wash bigger sizes in case you don't need them or use them and then want to return them.

I have been a bit obsessed with sleepsack and swaddles so I have a few different kinds and sizes. There are still other brands/makes that I would like to have in my stash.

Yeah, and I know that my LOs might hate them.

I had 8 a&a swaddle blankets. 3 size small summer infant swaddle me. We made those work until we switched to a sleep sack. We only ever have one sleep sack at a time and wash as needed. So maybe have a couple if you can't wash in an explosion ;)

My boys didn't really need to be swaddled. But with DS1 I used the swaddle me velcro kind with his arms out and then moved on to a sleep sack once he could wiggle free.

I like to have at least three in each size. I typically do laundry twice a week.

We have never used sleep sacks for any of our kids. We simply use A&A swaddle blankets. If you were to only do that I'd say you'd need ten in order to have about 1 a day plus extra in the event of spit up, etc. if you're without access to laundry.

I had 4 swaddles 2 cotton, 2 fleeces depending on what else she was wearing. I have 2 more cotton halo swaddle/sleepsacks that we never used b/c DD didn't like being swaddled! We're actually getting the most out of the merlin magic sleep suit right now, wish I have another one! And we have 2 zipadee zip to transition her to later.

I would wait and see what works best for her. Then order a bunch. Swaddle Mes worked way better then the miracle blanket, A&A blankets, and some other one for us. I think we had 3 in each size. She would wear the same one for two nights in a row, if she didn't spit up on them. Which wasn't much. Some nights we went through 3. Lots of laundry.

I liked the swaddle blankets for the day and during naps but preferred the swaddle mes or the Halo swaddle sacks (both with the velcro) at night. We probably had 6 or 7 swaddle blankets and maybe 4 or 5 various other swaddle wraps.

I agree with @rachiecakes: babies like different things. My LO hated blanket swaddles but loved swaddled sleep sacks, specifically Halo brand. I was also lucky enough to be able to borrow some so I could see how they worked without having to purchase, so you may want to look into that or buying some secondhand.

I have 8 A&A swaddles, 2 halo sleepsacks with arms (NB), 2 pod sacks, and a couple of other random different types that we were gifted last time. I think that will hold us over for the first 6 months. I think I have a couple of fleece halo sleepsacks in bigger sizes too.

I started to hoard A+A swaddles and sleepsacks while pregnant and my baby hated them all! At least I had a few cute receiving blankets and carseat covers for a while!

How many of these do I need and for what sizes/ages? I don't have in-home access to laundry so I would need to have enough on hand for a week. Should I try and blanket Swaddle as a newborn and move to the Swaddle at size small, for example?
