With my first I didn't have to go for any medical reasons until it was time for my induction. I did go a handful of times for classes, a tour, and to pre register.

With this pregnancy I thought I was going to end up at the hospital yesterday, but I just went to my OBs office instead. Everything was ok thankfully!

None for my second, only went the day I was scheduled to be induced.

With LO1 my water broke and that was it. With LO2 I had pre labour for weeks (timeable but mild contractions that would fade away after a few hours). There were LOTS of texts to the midwives saying "maybe, i'll let you know, never mind..." The funny thing was when it was time there was no doubt.

twice. once was at 31 weeks when i had a weird pain, they monitored me for 2 hours then sent me home. the other was at 35 when i had been having false labor for 2 days and wanted some relief. after 2 hours of monitoring and listening to the woman next to me be in active labor) I demanded to go home at 4am. the next morning I had an OB appointment and was finally in active labor, and went back to the hospital at 10am to have DS.

I had a homebirth, but I did think my water was leaking around 26 weeks ... I went to get it checked out. All was fine, and I ended up delivering at 39 weeks with no "false alarms" to the midwife beforehand.

1st - zero times, went into labor at 35 weeksx stayed for 4 days, sent home for 3 hours, came back and delivered 5 hours later. Morphine, and a lot of contractions, thanks to tricare no induction.

2nd - I lost count. Kidney stones, preterm labor at 28 weeks (luckily mostly stopped with a magnesium bag, and some shots) continual contractions, and another round of kidney stones. After all of that, I was induced a day after my due date.

3rd - Twice, preterm labor again, not enough progression, light bedrest and she came 3 days early (only one to have water break naturally!)

I didn't go in with my first until they said I had to be induced at 42 weeks.

My second I went in on 6/13 at 11:30pm (yup- 1 year ago today) and the on call resident doc pretty much laughed at me for saying I hadn't felt baby move all day except for one movement at 12:21pm. He doppled babies heartbeat and said that since he had a heartbeat he was fine. He sent me home. The next morning I called my OB who wanted a BPP and NST. I went on my lunch break (I work at the hospital) at 11:45am. I delivered my baby by 12:41pm by super stat emergency c-section. I was told another hour or two he would have been a stillbirth.

Moral of the story- go in as many times as you need to go in and trust your mommy instincts!

Just once with my third. We didn't make it to the hospital where my practice was with my second so I was overly cautious the third time and immediately sent home.
With my second I did go in once too but it was because of bleeding, not because I thought it was time.

Ugh.
DD1 5 times
DS 3 times, though unrelated to pregnancy. Had a locked knee and even preggo they shot me in the bum w morphine to try to relax me enough to unlock the knee. A few attempts so had to keep going back (at 38w).
DD2 6 times.

My girl pregnancies are all drama. Bleeding and decreased movement. Silly ladies. Everyone ended up healthy and overdue. Once in labour I showed up at hospital and left with baby.

None with my first as I never had prelabor and was induced. With my second I thought I had a small leak of fluid so they wanted me to come check. 3 hours later they had finally checked me and said no fluid and I was at 3cm so they had me walk around an hour to see if I was progressing but I did not in that hour even though my contractions were like 3-4min apart. So they gave me the option of staying and being induced or go home. So I went home shortly before noon, ate, and then went back 2 hours later ready for my epidural at 5-6cm

@2littlepumpkins: Yea I remember at some point the midwives and nurses kind of whispering about maybe the baby was not well-positioned but for some reason they didn't know for sure until she was born? I hope they can tell for the next baby bc I'm not going through that again! Thankfully I got the epidural as soon as they admitted me so it was only slightly more than 24 hrs unmedicated. I pushed the next day for 4 hours and she wasn't coming out :bummed: I do wonder if I had waited longer for the epidural if I would have had a different experience but I'm ok with how everything turned out.

I know what you mean about not hearing about people with super long labors, all the first time moms I know had much quicker labors.

@petitenoisette: I had a relatively small baby and have wide hips and I'm pretty sure that's the only reason it worked out for us. It took so long and it was such a rough start to motherhood looking back. I'm surprised they couldn't/didn't tell you she was sunny side up! how long did you have to continue labor before your c section? Hope not too long! 😳 I know the same thing must happen to a lot of people but Im glad you commented here, most people I know didn't have that long wait because of positioning- they either went straight to c sec or had maybe a total 24 hr labor. The only person I know who did it this way ended up with a baby positioned right but just too big.

@2littlepumpkins: I didn't know she was sunny side up until she was born and I did fully dilate with the pitocin so I naively never thought I would end up with a c-section! I feel you on the epidural, I was soooo tired by the time I got to the hospital I needed it so badly just so that I could get some rest.

@petitenoisette: same thing happened to me. But I did got home and eventually give birth sunny side up.. I think it was fear of c section (thank you, internet and google) that kept me at home another 24 hours. I LOVED my epidural!

If you're talking about feeling like I was in labor...just the day I actually gave birth for both. I had GD with my first, so I was in L&D for NST twice/week. But there was never a point where I was there to be monitored for preterm labor or anything like that!

Once for the tour and then not until I was in labor. I had been in labor for 24 hours at that point and then it turned out I was only 2 cm. I am so glad they didn't make me go home because the hospital is about 35 minutes away and I was miserable (turned out baby was sunny side up and I ended up with a c-section in the end - explains the back labor and no rest between contractions but only be 2 cm!).
