@birdofafeather: D had been STTN for months, then all of a sudden he started waking up once in the MOTN and only nursing him would get him back to sleep, whereas before if he did wake up, we could get him back to sleep with just his paci. I have been attributing it to new teeth cutting through and a cold, but just last night I realized that I think the wakeups coincide with when I dropped the 6pm nursing session when we first get home from work/daycare in the evening. We used to nurse at 6, then he'd eat dinner (BLW) at 7, then nurse to sleep at 7:45. Now he eats dinner at 6:15, then nurses to sleep at 7:45(ish). I'm going to continue in this vein past the teeth breaking through and the cold going away, but if the wakeups continue, I may add that nursing session back in.

@birdofafeather: We dropped the third nap earlier than that -- BUT we followed the same thing, one night wake up until 8 months and then 2 from 8-9 for 3 weeks and then it seemed like he wasn't really eating much so I did PU/PD trying to get him to push his first wake back and boom, no wakes. He has consistently been nursing 4x a day for.. a while. I often tried to get him to nurse more often during the day to no avail. But it doesn't hurt to try!

LO is 3 mos, she nurses 1x in the am, takes 3.5oz bottles 4x at daycare, and then nurses 2x before bedtime at 7:30 (so 7 feedings total throughout the day, although sometimes she skips a daycare bottle and still STTN). She sleeps from 7:30-6:30ish.

ETA oops sorry you meant older babies!

LO is 7 months and nurses at least 7 times a day and STTN. If she only gets 6 I can guarantee she'll wake for a nighttime feeding. Sometimes she nurses up to 9 times per day.

ETA we do BLW and she really doesn't ingest a ton of solid food yet so that might make a difference.

DS is 7 months and he nurses 4x a day. Sleeps at 7:30 pm and normally wakes up somewhere around 5:30-6 am, where I'll nurse him again.

So R is 8.5 months old and has previously STTN on occasion, but was pretty consistent with one night wake up from about 6 months to 8 months. i was hoping we were on our way to STTN by dropping that one MOTN wake up.

BUT then she went to regularly 2 naps and bc we were doing EASY for so long, she is only nursing 4 times during the day.... and then started adding another night wake up. she will only go back to sleep if she gets a full nursing session in. i tried cutting them short, etc, but she would scream bloody murder if she didn't stop on her own.

at first, i attributed this to the four (!!) top teeth that are working their way out right now, but as i thought more about it, the 2nd night wake up coincided with the regular dropping of the 3rd nap (and thus a drop of a day nursing sesssion).

i'm going to try to get her 6 sessions in during the day (instead of 4 during the day and 2 overnight) for the next week and see what happens to the MOTN wake ups, but i wondered if others saw this happen too.

so, my question, if you made it this far, is: if your LO is STTN, how many times during the day do you nurse to make sure they're getting enough? also, how old is your LO?
