*KNOCK ON WOOD* LO only gets up once, at 2 months. Sometimes she sleeps all night! :) But, she still sleeps next to our bed. She doesn't like to sleep in her crib, but I think that we are going to push it this weekend and see how she does.

I guess I'm really lucky... My daughter is 5.5 weeks old. She sleeps for one long stretch from 10 PM until 3 or 4 AM. Once I get her back down again after a feeding she sleeps again until 6 or 7 usually. So I guess that counts as waking just once during the night.

At 3 weeks old I wouldn't expect her to be sleeping mug longer than that. Until my son was 4-6 he never really slept much longer than 2-3 hours. Once he hit 6 weeks he started sleeping more than 4 hours. At 11 weeks now he will sleep 3-5 hours at a time.

It get better, it really does!!

@Mrsbells: Your description sounds spot-on in terms of my LO at that age.

LO is 9months old right now and she wakes up once in the night. I didn't get long-ish stretches of sleep until we sleep-trained at 3.5 months.

She also woke up a lot when she was teeny tiny. But at 2 1/2 months we stopped the swaddle, she found her thumb, and she has slept 12 hours straight since then. It will happen for you some day, I promise!

My baby is 3weeks1day old and the longest stretch of sleeping for her was 4 hours but that was when we were supplementing with formula. Since she is now exclusively breastfed, she wakes up every 2-3 hours to eat. She will not sleep in her bassinet. She sleeps on me for every nap...I didn't think it would be like this!

At your LO's age my DD woke up twice a night and slept for 12 hours starting at 8 weeks. She has always been a good night sleeper so we are very grateful.

Ugh, DS is 7 weeks and he is still only sleeping 2-3 hours at a time. About every other day, I'll get him to sleep a 4 hour stretch.

Every baby is different, but it's pretty common for newborns to only sleep for 2 hours at a time for the first 6 weeks. Often, after the 6 week growth spurt, they'll start extending their sleep a little more.

LO's 13 months old and she wakes up at least once--usually after a 5-7 hour stretch.
She slept through the night until she was about 9 months old, then learned how to crawl out of bed :P

My baby is nearly 3 weeks old, she dleeps great if someone is holding her but at night when we put her in her crib she wont sleep for more than 1 hour 45 mins at a time. she will sleep a tiny bit longer if we put her in the car seat. How many times does your LO wake up each night and at what age did they start sleeping for longer stretches?
