We were about where you are at 9-10mos, except we nursed at night too. If your baby is growing, I don't see why your ped should have an opinion. Babies are individuals, so it seems reasonable to me that they'll have different nursing preferences, you know?

We nurse about 5x a day w one bottle and solids 3x.... I can see why they r growing so big haha. But except for the session early morning, which can last over 15 minutes, they r only on for like 6 minutes. And I'm usually the one just offering....

@Mrs. Pen: I haven't attempted making our own bread. Tbh with making everything else from scratch & still working from home I just haven't had the time to look into it much. Almond flour is definitely out though & I'd have to find a suitable egg substitute. :-/ Having never made bread at all I find all the restrictions & needed substitutes to be pretty intimidating.

She did eat just about anything I spread on the bread though so that was great... Until she ended up with hives & a swollen eye from all the wheat she had been eating. She's still been really grippy & we're on day two of eliminating wheat again. *total mommy fail*

@runsyellowlites: have you tried making a gluten free bread, with almond, coconut or quinoa flour and spreading it with mashed berries, pear purée, hummus or something of the like?

@caffeinated: well seeing how Cobi gradually dropped nursing sessions as he started eating more, I would say its pretty easy. He never needed supplementation. It sounds like your LO doesn't necessarily seek out nursing sessions so she might not even notice. One way to do it would be to cut the nursing session in half, say 5 minutes and gradually just cut down on the time. I think I was only very full/engorged when Cobi started STTN for about three days and then my body adjusted to his schedule.

@Mrs. Pen: She eats a lot of solids during the day, and she never asks for a nursing session...probably because i'm always offering her the boob! I want to start weaning by gradually dropping a session, but i don't know if that means i still need to supplement with a bottle.

I think she was nursing at least 6-7X a day at that point (with 1 or 2 night feedings). She's a snacker and likes to nurse frequently.

She's 11 months now and nursing about 4-5X a day. We've cut out her night feeding (yay). At least 1 or 2 of the feedings are really short sessions, though - I think it's more for comfort?

6+ times a day and night feedings (when she was eating some solids). She still doesn't really care for solids though and now that I've had to cut wheat, eggs, and dairy again she's almost completely ebf (things spread on toast was all she would eat). She's still growing so I'm not worried.

E is 8.5 months old and nurses 4 times a day, but he still wakes up and nurses twice during the night. I nurse him and then feed him solids about an hour later and then he naps about an hour after solids. With that rotation we don't really have time for more nursing sessions and he seems satisfied.

He just started sleeping through the night so it's gone down but he wasn't STTN at 9-10 months so like your LO he was still nursing 4-6x a day. Usually 1-2x a night and 3-4x a day. Sometimes more if he was cranky or needed extra snuggles and comfort.

Does your LO eat much in solids? I've noticed Cobi nursing less now that he eats so much food too.

My pediatrician says that i should be nursing 3-4 times a day around this time, but i nurse about 5-6 times a day. Some of the sessions are "snacking" sessions, which i know isn't that good but my LO doesn't really have long nursing sessions to begin with.

If you are exclusively nursing, how often do you do so? Did your LO notice when you dropped a session?

ETA: All of my sessions are during the day. LO has been STTN since we night weaned her at 8 months.
