I change them once a week. But we hardly do laundry and have piles of it. I have not thrown away a towel, ever. So as you can imagine, there's some funky ones in there that only get used when we're really behind on laundry. But we don't need that many towels and it's a brilliant way to save space! I sometimes use 2 if it is cold out and I want one for my hair. Plus I would want 2 for guests. I would say 5 is the absolute minimum for adult towels. I actually just use a robe and a towel for my hair, so I think we can downsize our towel situation to just one per person, and 1 extra for a guest, for a total of 5 towels.
