15 with my first. (I was high risk and had weekly ultrasounds the whole third trimester) He came out perfectly healthy! Ultrasounds did no harm.

Ive had 2 so far with this pregnancy and have one next week when I will be 11 weeks. This lo is also doing good!

At every appointment - so every 4 weeks from 6 to 32 weeks, then every two weeks until I delivered around 36 weeks. Plus 3 extra for bleeding/extreme stomach bug in my first pregnancy, so all in that's upwards of 12-13. DD is 19 months old and perfect.
I expect I'll have a similar number this time around, minus the emergency ones. I'm not high risk; it's just how they check growth here (Hong Kong).

So many! With my first I probably had 5-6. With my second I had to be in the office once a month, which turned into every 3 weeks, then every two week, once a week, and finally twice a week towards the end of my pregnancy due to GD and lower than average weight. I keep telling DH that one of the reasons why I'm two and through is because I don't want to ever see maternal fetal ever again. Both my kids were healthy without any issues (probably why I'm so pissed off I was so heavily monitored).

My ob always did an ultrasound to check growth. He never measured my belly like in the US. So I probably had 6 in-office u/s and two at the high tech lab for the 12 week scan and the anatomy scan.

With DS I had maybe 6? I had a few concerns with the placenta but it turned out to be nothing.

I don't even remember but I've had a lot of them. I got in a car accident during my first pregnancy and required frequent ultrasounds after that. Had GD during my second pregnancy and had a few extra growth checks.

Both of mine have had at least 4, I have a normal 2 year old running around and so far, so good with the second. My twin nephews had a lot of medical concerns and hand one at most visits- they are just fine too. Just because something is not 100% proven safe does not mean it's dangerous either- it is just not known. Scientific experiments are generally frowned upon being performed on pregnant ladies and fetuses ;)

My take is that only qualified, educated sonographers are allowed near my belly- sure I have access to veterinary ultrasound at work, but I don't have knowledgeable technicians to perform a safe ultrasound so I resist temptation because I know that there are some different choices in frequencies available that could be harmful.

@coopsmama: I'm glad you're feeling better about it! They give you the ones that you need, so don't feel bad.

I've had 3 so far - 1 at 9 weeks to date and make sure there was just one, 21 weeks for anatomy scan, and 29 weeks for a 3D scan and the bean seems fine so far. I don't believe we'll have a 4th, unless our doctor wants one for positioning or weight.

I've had close to 10 - eek! I have had a lot of bleeding episodes, and now monitoring a possible placenta abruption.

I'm not worried about it because my friend with twins had prolly 15 or more over course of her pregnancy and her babies are all good! :)

Thank you all! :) That is making me feel better and is calming my nonsensical fears. It is really interesting hearing how many (and why!) ultrasounds you all had and it is making me feel thankful for the technology.

I really need to shake all the fears that my former care provider instilled in me. Needless to say, I think my prior experience was pretty harmful mentally. :( I'm glad to have a more middle-of-the-road nurse midwife this time around.

With my 1st, I had 4 - dating ultrasound at 8 weeks, anatomy scan at 20 weeks, a quick one at 24 weeks because they couldn't get a good shot of his face at the 20 week, and 37 weeks to check his size. And he is a totally healthy 16 month old!

With this pregnancy I've had 2 - dating at 8 weeks and anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I shouldn't have any more.

A lot! I think I had 9. Dating ultrasound at 6 weeks, ER ultrasound at 8 weeks, another OB one at 9 weeks, and NT scan at 12. Those were because I was paranoid after having a missed m/c at 9 weeks the year before and they wanted to ease my mind. Then, I had the anatomy scan at 17 weeks and then growth scans every 4-5 weeks until delivery because of gestational diabetes.

And yes, he's fine. A healthy, happy 2.5 month old :)

I'm 21 weeks and have had 8 so far. Having another one next week and at least two more after that, so I'll end up with more than 10. He's fine so far and they're only doing so many because the benefits outweigh the risks!

I had 3. A dating/viability scan at 8 weeks, the NT scan at 12 weeks and the anatomy at 21 weeks. I guess I also had one when I was in labor, but it was more of a quick peek to check on his positioning...the OB only looked for like 5 seconds (that was as long as I could stay on my back) and I didn't even see anything.

I can't remember but it was definitely more than 5. Maybe 8 or 9? I had a lot of bleeding and then a placenta previa that needed monitored. He is perfectly fine! If they were proven to be harmful, I don't think they would do them as frequently.

I have had 5 ultrasounds with this pregnancy and I'm only just about 18w along! 1 for dating, 2 for bleeding, and then 2 more because at 13 and 17 weeks they weren't able to find the HB with the Doppler.

The last was today and baby looked great and all is well. But I can't help feeling bad about all the ultrasounds because my last care provider (who is on the extreme crunchy side of the care spectrum) would only do one ultrasound and said more are harmful and kind of freaked me out! Eeek. Of course, we still have our anatomy scan in a week and a half which should be our last ultrasound this pregnancy.

So, that being the case -- how many ultrasounds did you have? And if it was 3+ your baby turned out just fine, right?! ;)
