I've gone in to see the OBGYN because of pain and they sent me for an ultrasound every time. Sometimes to check my cervix and sometimes to check for kidney stones. I'm following that same pattern so far with this baby. The middle two were done by a specialist and the first and last at my normal OB's office. </p> <p>I am no expert but I believe you should wait for the 20 week one. So this will be #7. I definitely wouldn’t have had a few of them if I hadn’t had MC issues in the past but I do think that my OB is pretty liberal about them. We're doing an elective 4D scan at 28 weeks, and the doc asked us to go for an u/s to check the kidneys at 32 weeks (they were measuring on the higher side of normal). The first was at 12 weeks (transvaginally). I had an anatomy scan at 18 weeks and then went back for a second scan at 20 weeks because the tech couldn't get all of the scans at the first one. I had another around 25 weeks or so to check on baby because of a fall. I also had 2 elective 3D ultrasounds.</p> <p>I don't think they will do an extra ultrasound just because you ask for it. My first one was because they thought I might be further along than they orginially guessed, so they wanted to know for sure. (9 weeks) I was in a car accident at 18 weeks so the hosptial did one to make sure baby was okay. And then I had my A/S at 20 weeks. I don't suspect I'll be getting another one unless something comes up. </p>
