I just tried to cover her and kept my distance from others. </p> <p>Plane - I flew across country with her with she was 7 weeks old and again at about 10 or 11 weeks. She did great both ways and didn't get sick. Again, I kept her covered, didn't let people touch her, used hand sanitizer a lot, and was breastfeeding. She traveled better at that age than she has ever traveled since. </p> <p>We have a family reunion planned for mid-July when baby #2 should be 6 weeks old, and in all likelihood, I will fly with baby and my 2.5 year old at that time, across country, by myself. I hope that's not a crazy plan! </p> <p>Concert - I would mostly be concerned about disturbing other people. If it's a production for high school students, I wouldn't be too worried, but if was for paying concert goers, I'd probably avoid it. I do think it's a little different since you'd be going to support colleagues. I probably wouldn't go for any other reason given the potential to be a disruption. If your baby is still pretty sleepy at the one month mark and would likely snooze in a wrap or in the carseat carrier, I would consider taking baby. I'd just cover baby with an A&amp;A blanket and not let people into your space. We had a have baby will travel policy. He went to the zoo at 2 weeks old and a TSO concert at almost 3 months. He did great. He has been to several concerts since then. I second what pp say about headphones tho. I wore him most of the time so no people touching him. </p> <p>When E was born we had to wait to 13 days for him to get released but we after he was released we didn't confine ourselves to he house. Again I wear him mostly. We flew with both boys in June. E was 4 months and N was 20 months. This was the second plane trip N had been on. I would have taken them to church quite early. We took them at 6 weeks and it was fine. It's actually easier to take non-mobile babies to church than it is to take toddlers. We always put them in the nursery now!</p> <p>Plane - We still haven't taken the boys on a plane, but I'm trying to decide if I'm up for flying to a wedding after when this little one is just a 2-3 weeks old. For the concert.....what time is it? Babies are usually right in the throes of the "witching hour" every afternoon-evening until around 10-12 weeks old. I wouldn't take a baby or toddler to a classical music concert until they were much, much older because they would have to be quiet so it's not developmentally appropriate for a long time in my view - they just can't be quiet for that long. We have no nursery at our church so I just don't go anymore. We took her to lots of loud sporting events, fairs, and outdoor family music from right away too. In my neck of the woods, a fever before vaccinations usually means an automatic spinal tap and hospitalization for an infant. We didn't really go anywhere the first 3 weeks but then at 3.5 flew and considered going to see a show. I don't fly at all. Have yet to go to a concert. Did take DD to a Christmas Parade at 3 months. That was kinda loud and at 3 months is when I started taking her to the skating rink. But I have a lot of weird anxiety about her needs. (She was EBF, I had a bottle of pumped milk though) &amp; I was worried the music would scare her lol the next time we went she was about 5 months old &amp; I just send her to the nursery now. At 14 months, she would never sit still at church. We still have never flown or taken her to a concert. We were at a church wedding recently and there were two babies of maybe six or eight months that stayed quiet through the whole ceremony... I assume because they're there regularly and knew everyone keeps quiet :)</p> <p>I don't know about a plane. Never had a fear of flying before DS was born, but now I'm developing this irrational fear of the risks :(</p> <p>He's been to restaurants since he was two months old, and to outdoor concerts since one. I think when he's three, he'll be old enough to enjoy a short concert, and tell me if he's getting antsy and needs to go outside!</p> <p>My brother in law told me that the worst thing you can do with a new baby is stay home and restrict your social life, it's not good for a new mom's mental health. He's got three kids, so I took the advice seriously. Besides the fact that it is really loud, I'd be afraid of DS crying/fussing and annoying people.
