In 2002, I think I was making $7! I remember thinking that was a lot! When I started babysitting in 1990, I got paid $2/hr. When she started, she said her range was $10-15. I paid her $10/hr the first few times but then raised it. She often picks DD up around 5 (at daycare around the corner) and watches her until 7:30 - for that I pay her $30. She is in her early 30s and has lots of experience. However, there are times when she will leave work (she has a day job) a little early to pick up my LO if daycare closes early due to weather... I will usually give her a $30-50 bonus or something for that.</p> <p>There are lots of sitters in my area that charge $15-20, but that's not really in my budget and I have found plenty of good, experienced sitters in the $10-15 range. </p> <p>I babysat until my early 30s (a few years ago) and charged ~$12 (for twins, 2 toddlers, or 3 older kids). I used to babysit two kids every Monday and Thursday evening. Here where we live in Asia it's less than $10/hr. It's insanely cheap!
