@mrsjyw: that's my guess for dd too. She's not growing though so her intake is a little more concerning. She just wants solids way more than she wants to nurse. 😞

We nurse on demand, but I bet it's 15-20 oz during the day. Plus ALL the food and water omg.

@edelweiss: my DS1 was the same way all the way up to close to one year just before he weaned a month or two later!

@Ash: I'm guessing on a good day he's getting 20oz, but more like 15-16 oz.

I almost wrote this same post today.

Dd is 9 months and her breastmilk intake has decreased tremendously since her interest in solids increased this past month. But I feed on demand too and have no clue how much she's taking.

this is interesting. i nurse LO2 (almost 9 months old) at wakeup and bedtime, and he gets 3 bottles during the day at daycare, about 6-7 oz each. jesus he drinks a lot.

Interesting! DD gets maybe 16-20 oz on a good day, and I've been worried that's not enough, but sounds like it's in the ballpark! She's gaining weight well, and we're giving her yogurt for extra dairy. I can tell she needs a bit more fluids, but hopefully we'll figure out a way to get her to drink more when the weather gets hot.

DS was on mostly breastmilk and one bottle of formula per day (4 feedings a day) for a total of 22-24oz beginning at 6 months. At 9 months he really started fighting his bottles and went down to about 16-20oz a day, with 4 feedings a day. Ped said it was a littler earlier than normal to begin weaning but to take his lead and try to get him to take 16oz a day and offer water too. Between 9-10 months I just weaned to formula for a lot of reasons but one of them was that with my low supply pumping took hours out of my day and if he didn't want to drink his milk I didn't want to get resentful over it! By 1 year the booger barely took 8-12oz a day, which the ped said was fine if he had water and other sources of dairy in his diet.

We nurse/feed probably the same schedule as you. Right when DD wakes up, then after her morning nap around 11ish, then after her afternoon nap around 3:30-4ish, then once before bed. Although she has been waking up 1-2x per night, and I will nurse her back to sleep form one side, maybe getting a few oz then?

My DD is almost 10 months, but has been on this schedule for the last month or 2 now.

My 9 month little girl takes 4 oz at a time. We nurse at home and she takes a bottle at daycare at around 8:30, 12:30, and 3:00. I've asked her daycare teachers if she seems like she's hungry and they've said that the 4 oz seems to be the right amount for her. She's happy and satisfied afterwards.

We EBF, and I only pump one day a week when I'm in the office, so I don't have a solid number. But, DS2 has not been a fan of nursing during the day and it's only gotten worse since we've ramped up his solids intake. He's gaining well so I'm not overall concerned, but I would really like to nurse until one year and make sure he's getting enough milk for his age.

Right now, he nurses 4x (Morning, 2x during the day, and before bedtime). His morning session he probably takes in 6-8 oz? the 2 daytime sessions 3oz? and probably only 2-3 oz at bedtime...
