We have a bank account just to pay off credit cards. It seems silly but it's just like an extra emergency fund and we don't have access to that money (no debit cards or checks) it comes directly out of DH's paycheck so it's easy to save. We will pay off 1k by July and probably pay off the other 1k on a separate credit card by September. We paid off all our credit cards, which was about $2,000? So we have no credit card debt anymore! woohoo! We didn't do too great with the gazelle intensity though. All of our extra money had been going toward cc payments because we really don't make a whole lot of money so after bills, food, all necessities we never had any $$ leftover. I told my husband, who was then just my boyfriend, that it was my debt, I wanted to do it myself. It took me just under 2 years. During that time, my husband and I also paid off a large furniture bill and paid off our bed. </p> <p>You can do it. It's HARD. I gave myself just $50-$100 a month to pay with while I was doing that. That money was for clothes, eating out, drinking out, sporting events, etc. It was SOOOOOOO worth it when I paid it off!!!! I hope you get there soon! But when I was single and in my last relationship (in college) I had a ton! I would have been able to pay all of my debts off and have no student loans at all if it wasn't for my ex. It was a bad divorce and he basically bankrupted me.</p> <p>I learned a hard lesson! I'm still paying for it in the student loans I personally didn't need. So although DH and I share a house and thinks we should consolidate our student loans, I've made it a point to pay it off myself to remind me of my stupidity!
