@travellingbee: Thanks for the details!! I'll be really curious to see how much Xander weighs now that he seems to be eating a lot more! I should trying weighing him on my own scale and see what it says.

@Adira: So Last night L ate the following:
a handful of puffs, three crackers, a handful of blueberries, 4 cubes of roasted butternut squash, cut up, a 4 ounce pouch and a small bowl of apple sauce. It's probably as much as Xander, just hard to tell since it isn't all pureed. I think it is just nromal and I wouldn't worry about it. L is finally gaining weight again. I weighed him this morning and he was 20lbs 5 oz with no diaper on.

@travellingbee: Luckily daycare provides him breakfast and lunch during the week, so I only have to provide dinner and weekend meals!

@Adira: L eats a lot of finger food so I don't know what he would eat in straight jarred food but wow that sounds expensive!

@Corduroy: haha, that makes me feel better! Xander always eats 3 jars (the 2.5 or 3.5 oz ones) for dinner and I was thinking he was a little piggy! :)

@travellingbee: I know!! It seems like a lot, right?? And he even acts like he'd keep eating if I'd just open up some more food and feed it to him! Maybe I'm feeding him too quickly? But it often takes him 20-30 minutes to eat it all, so I would think that's enough time for him to realize he's full, right??

Forget what I said before. In an effort to make me a liar LO ate 3 jars of baby food at day care today after eating oatmeal at home this morning.

@Smurfette: Actually, in regards to that, daycare has started to try to feed him some chunkier purees and they claim he's actually been eating it! I tried this weekend and every time he got a chunk of carrot, he'd spit it back out, but sometimes he actually swallowed it, so I think we're making progress on that front!

@Adira: Have you tried spoon feeding him finger food?

R has 4 7oz bottles a day. Sometimes she finishes, sometimes she doesn't. Then half a banana for breakfast (yesterday ate a whole one), then I don't know how many ozs she eats for her other meals. But 3 meals and a snack. Some days she eats it all and some she doesn't eat hardly any.

Sounds good to me. I send 12oz of milk per day now but LO nurses 4x. (Is that too much for this age?) My LO eats less than Xander but I'm terrible at estimating how much she eats. She has never finished a pouch or jar but whenever I portion homemade food for her I have to get seconds.

Day care talks in tablespoons but they usually only tell me the quantity of one food per day. They'll say rice porridge & banana for breakfast, rice, celery, and turkey meatball for lunch - 4T, yam for snack. So really, I have no clue.

@travelgirl1: @mrsjyw: Thanks ladies!! Maybe all this food means he's ready for some snacks, though I'm honestly not sure how to DO snacks when he won't eat any finger foods yet... But I'm glad it sounds like his eating habits are normal! :)

sounds good! I was always worried that DS overate... but he just kept getting more and more mobile...

at 10 months, he was doing 20+ oz of BM, 3 solids meals at least 5oz+, 2 snacks...

It sounds like he's getting plenty! My A is just below the 15th percentile and I used to worry about it SO much but I think for some kids it's just normal for them to be lighter. A is tiny but she eats well and has so.much.energy. X sounds like a great eater to me

Xander's a little peanut (13th percentile at 9 months), but I feel like lately he's been eating soooooooo much. Maybe he's not getting enough BM??? Or maybe this is normal? During the week, he nurses once and gets three 6 oz bottles of BM (estimate 24 oz BM total) and three meals of solids (4 oz breakfast, 7 oz lunch, 9 oz dinner). Is that a lot or normal?? Should he be getting a snack instead of such a big dinner?
