We live in Oregon so trees are very affordable here - they start as little as $15 for a 5' tree and go up from there depending on type and size.

I think I saw a sign at our local Whole Foods for $60, which is probably on the mid to high price for them, considering the store.

No idea. But I saw a pumpkin selling for $79.99 last month, so one can only guess... Lovely NYC, where the apartments are mostly too small to fit trees, anyway.

Instead we have an 18in potted pine plant that's stayed alive since last year. I think we paid $20 for it.

6 ft Noble for $45.

We always pay around $50 and get a 6-7 foot Noble or Frazier.

We do U-cut and live outside Seattle. You would think in the Evergreen Sate our trees would be like $10....

I'm such a do do head and didn't move any of our Christmas anything except for our tree skirt which, I think, I meant to leave behind as well. But our 7.5' artificial tree was close to $200 when we bought it many years back. Since we still want a tree while living in Asia we went shopping and, wow, for a 6' artificial it's about no more than $70! And I'm sure we can bargain it down if we wanted to. And they sell trees that are fully decorated not that I like the style but nice if you don't want to bother decorating it yourself. Those probably cost another $30 or so.

@yin: we do the same thing. I love small noble fir trees and always spend $20 at lowes. Often times the guys working look at me like I'm crazy for getting excited about my little Charlie brown style tree when I could get the next size up for just ten bucks more!
