We spend about $400 a month on groceries (I really can't figure out how to get this number down much) and $150 on eating out but that's only lunch out. If we go out to dinner, it's probably $100 more. DH buys lunch every day, which I think is $10+. Too much but he says he feels anti-social when he brings lunch.

I spend about $300 per month on groceries and probably another $50-$75 on eating out. We don't go out for dinner, but DH is bad for buying fast food for lunch.

@MediaNaranja: ARghhh it frustrates me so much! I look at what we eat and can't really figure out where we go wrong. I think I choose a lot of recipes that have too many ingredients a lot of times. We are thinking of going back to the E-Meals meal planning service until our LO is born. Let me know if you come up with any ideas :)

@grizz: Ugh, we are in the same boat. That sounds almost exactly like our budget. The only way I can think of to cut back is making dinner out an every-other-week thing, and then cook a nicer dinner on the stay at home nights. We really need to cut back, though.

I think that if I did a better job menu planning our grocery budget could be cut down a bit.

We spend about $250 at the grocery store (including toiletries) and maybe $30-$40 dining out/take out/drive thru. If even that.

We're pretty bad about spending too much on food. If I do all the shopping and we're good about packing our own lunches then we spend less. But if DH ever goes shopping without me he spends a TON. That happened a few times this month so in February we've spent $400 at the grocery store and about $350 eating out. We don't usually spend that much eating out but there were a few special celebration dinners this month and a bit of travel.

The only eating out we do is if we have to buy lunch at work. It's about 10/day for the two of us and usually end up being about half the time so that is typically 100-130/month. Groceries are usually about 250-300/month. Our total food budget is usually right around $400/month.

How much do you spend on eating out each month? This can be take-out and/or dining in restaurants. Also, what percentage of your total food/grocery bill is it?

DH and I spend about $450 a month for all groceries/cleaning supplies/toiletries/house stuff, and an additional $150 on dining out. It sounds high to me, but when I break it down we really only go out to one dinner once a week, and maybe grab cheap takeout one other night. We both bring our lunches. I'm trying to decide if we should cut back. I feel like we spend so much!
