I think M actually gets more out of the socialization at her babysitter's house than she would if we had a nanny at our house. </p> <p>We live in Boston and most people that I've talked to are actually shocked that we're paying that little. You would save gas and commute time because the nanny would come to you.<br /> I used to nanny but I was not certified and I was 18-21 years old, so it was different. Natural instinct generally tends to respond to their own child - if both kids are crying who does she respond to? Her own child, or the one she is paid to care for? It's a predicament. When I was a nanny with a child, it was for a family I had been with for nearly 3 years, so I already loved those children and it was never an issue for us... but for someone you haven't known previously, it's hard to know what it will be like.</p> <p>I wouldn't worry so much about her having her attention split between two children though, since that would be the same "issue" as using a nanny share or enrolling in daycare.
