@cmomma17: I'm right there with you. I only have two days of experience since LO just started daycare but so far 4oz is my max too. Both days I've done 4-3-3 and 2oz at night.

@rahlyrah: that amount of milk at only 12 days is great!! My milk didn't even come in until day 5 with my first. It took a while to build up... your breasts only produce what your baby eats, supposedly. So at this young age the demand is very little at a time, so the supply will be little. Once he gets older and his tummy can hold more, your supply will (hopefully) increase! At my peak I was pumping 16 oz per session (that's a lot! I had oversupply issues)... but these days, as I'm weaning off the pump and only pumping twice a day, I only pump about 4-5 oz per session.

@rahlyrah: doesn't sound piddly to me! My LO is ten weeks and 4 oz is the most I have ever pumped in a session! And that's either pumping at least 30-40 minutes after he nursed or at work while he is eating a bottle at home. Now I think my output is piddly! :(
I pump for 20 minutes, but I built up to that over time (started with 10 minutes).

That's pretty good! You're pumping as much as I pump per session at work. I pump at home and on weekends to keep up.

That's great for 12 days! It took me at least 6 weeks to start getting enough to freeze. At my peak, I pumped 3x a day and would average 8 oz per side per 15 minute pumping session, with lots of nursing in between. It does take some time to regulate!

@rahlyrah: I think that you're doing great! I switched to EPing at 4 weeks and pump 3 times a day now. Since my pumping sessions are replacing several feeding sessions I pump a lot more, typically 8-16 oz depending on the time of day.

@Mrs. High Heels: It depends. If he falls asleep after nursing I pump immediately after. If not, I wait til he naps and do a desperate session. I try to pump once every 4 hours (although it doesn't always happen) and he is usually on the boob every 2 hours or so.

That's about what I got at that stage. DS is 7.5 mo and I pump three times a day. The first one I usually get 8 oz total. The 2nd and 3rd usually get me around 3-4 oz total. So I'm at 14-16 oz total a day. That more than covers me so I'm happy.

@rahlyrah: that is a great output for a 12 day old! Are you pumping right after a feed, or is this a separate session?

Right now I pump 3x a day at work, I get the most in my morning session and can usually get out about 10 ounces total. The 2 afternoon sessions are less, and I get about 4-6 ounces total in each of those sessions. I average a total of 18-22 ounces in a workday.

I pump sporadically throughout the day after feedings. LO is 4 weeks tomorrow. I get a half ounce to an ounce on the right because my right boob is a slacker, and then I get 2-3 on the left.

I love your BF'ing threads lately because I have a lot of the same questions!

@rahlyrah: Fenugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, and MotherLove More Milk Plus. The last is so nasty. But after a week of pumping back at work, I started to see a decrease so I ordered them all. I think right now you don't need too supplement too much since you BF throughout the day.

I am trying to pump more then I need for the day, to build a freezer stash, since I was never able to pump much on leave since R would only nap in my arms.

When I pumped after a feeding (or about an hour after), I got anywhere from 0.5 - 1 oz. So you're doing great! When you go back to work, you'll be pumping a lot more because he won't be draining you right beforehand!

Mine is 7 months and that is my average (anywhere from 1 oz - 4 oz total) but that only accounts for half of her intake. We have had to supplement because I have supply issues.

I never pump for that short of a time. I think my boobs are slow. I usually pump 20-30 minutes and I produce 5-6 oz from both boobs. Have you tried pumping for longer? Also, my 5-6 oz is after 4-5 hours of not feeding/pumping. If it's only been 3 hours, I produce less.

In an average 10-15 minute session, how much do you produce? My sessions vary from about an ounce to 4 oz (both breasts combined) and that seems like such a small amount to me. Is that normal? Will I pump more as LO gets older (he's 12 days). I don't know how I'll be able to pump enough for his needs when I go back to work with such a piddly output.
