We are in the 300-400 range a month for food just the two of us. I buy a lot of fresh produce ad my DH is a meat snob and has to have the highest quality. But I shop the sales so I think we do okay.

I can easily spend $100- 150 every week or every other week. The DH is a human garbage disposal and I like my snacks. :/

We probably eat healthier than average. Our budget is a hundred a week for groceries and a hundred a month for eating out. Nowadays our budget is so tight since food is getting really expensive here in Hawaii, so we have been playing around with farmer's market and Costco instead of the grocery store to keep stretching our money.

DH is a food snob and refuses to let me buy meat at Lucky's/Safeway so we go to a co-op. Because of high prices, we only buy meat every other week. I've been trying to experiment with bean recipes because they're so darn cheap. We spend roughly 500-600 a month on groceries and live in one of the pricier cities in the bay area (Northern California). We hardly eat processed foods and opt for fresh produce.

400-500/month for the 2 of us. I shop at FreshDirect (delivery servcie) and sometimes Trader Joe's/Whole Foods for speicific things. FD is pretty $$$ but not anymore $$$ than other grocery stores in NYC. I cook 4 dinners a week, plus 4 lunches for both of us out of that budget.

Our meat, pantry, and veggie CSA is ~$250 a month and we probably spend another $200 on other groceries. Not too bad considering we live in an expensive area. Having the CSA really cuts down our bills. I miss it in the winter.

Wow, some of you have really low budgets!

We spend $600 - $700 per month for groceries, household items, formula/diapers, pet food, and health/beauty items. It's all in the same budget, so I'm not sure what portion is just groceries.

ETA: This is for two adults, a toddler, an infant, and two giant dogs. And we eat out 1-2 meals a week.

We're up around $400-500 a month for just the 2 of us. I'll typically cook 5-6 meals per week and we pack the leftovers for lunches. What I need to do is another big stock-up shop for staples like chicken broth, rice, frozen veggies, etc. Having those on hand all the time cuts my grocery bill down quite a bit.

We probably spend about $200 a month. I'll make dinners and then we eat left overs for a couple nights. Plus our families live in the same town, so we have dinner with them sometimes. We also hunt and use the deer meat to make our own hamburger and brats and such, so we don't have to buy those kind of things.

We spend about $850 a month for my husband, me and LO. However, my LO and I are on a special diet so we buy 50-60% organic and don't eat processed foods (which, ironically, tend to be more affordable) so I think we're doing ok budget-wise. I can definitely shave it back some but our diet is already restricted so I don't want to cut out some of the fun stuff we can eat. Oh and, we live in CA.

300 ish? We try to eat very healthy, but DH does eat a lot of chips. Other than that, we eat fresh foods, healthy grains, meat at almost every dinner and maybe 1/3 of lunches....
I just got on board with Safeway's online coupon thing and it rocks. I only buy things on sale or things that are always cheap--I meal plan around what is on sale. I go to the store with a rough list like "2 veggies, 2 fruit, 3 meat, chips, milk" not "asparagus, bell pepper, apples, oranges, chicken, lamb, ground beef"
I am very careful with our grocery money.
We almost never eat out anymore, maybe once a month. :(
We don't eat fast food unless we're driving to see his family (full day drive, and we go about 2x/year).

Two adults, no pets, 1 newborn. We don't buy any baby stuff at the grocery story, but that does include toiletries and cleaners.

DC area, so prices are fairly high, but nothing like when we lived in Honolulu.

I shop mostly at Wegmans, Safeway, Giant, and Target, and sometimes other stores.

It's probably around $800 for food and booze, not counting eating out or formula for LO (which is an extra about $105/month). I don't really want to know the exact figure, to be honest...but it can't be much less than that. I don't shop at Whole Foods at all, but we do shop at high quality local markets; sometimes things are cheaper there, sometimes not. We eat a really fresh diet of organic meats and some organic veggies/some not organic veggies. Very, very little processed foods. I eat a lot of fish, which can be pricey. We also drink a lot of wine lol

We spend about $80 - $100 every other week at a local Mexican grocery store which has great produce. And then we supplement at Coscto to buy meat and more produce. It's just hard to calculate because we buy other stuff at Costco too like tp, paper towels, vitamins, etc., etc., so I never know if I should count those items towards my "grocery" total.

I think a bit depends if you just look at groceries versus groceries plus eating out. Groceries we spend about $300 and we eat out way too much and probably spend about $300. We have tried to tweak things and eat out less but that really does increase our grocery bill.

@Mrs. Bee: ugh I cannot imagine what our bill will be like once we do have two kids eating too!! I remember my dad saying after I moved out that he spent about $800/mo on food for a family of 5 (after my older sibs and I moved out he was still spending that much). It was crazy to me. But now I totally get it.

We spend about $400-$500 on just two adults but we do bring our lunch to work and only eat out on the weekends. Actually that might not be as accurate of an amount since that number usually has other items that we buy at the grocery store like health & beauty and household items. So maybe it isn't so bad?

@Coco Bee: Yep that's the other option, WF for meat and this other place for produce and staples (although then we're eating non-organic produce, which is also not ideal). Someone told me this week that TJ's does have organic chicken for $5/lb, is that not true? I was going to check it out this weekend for meat since I've never looked for it there.
