I usually shop with about $100 for LO's Christmas presents and get grandparents to help out for THE BIG GIFT but I have a serious problem this year... I keep buying for Christmas and giving it to her early!!! She already got at least 5 Christmas gift$ already! So yes, I guess Christmas started already. I worry about what I will have left to put under the tree.

I just bought something I SWORE I would never buy DD - a dollhouse (KidKraft from Target). My DH put the thought into my head last night when he said that it's her absolute favorite thing to play with at school and with this baby coming in February, I figured why the hell not. It should keep her busy playing and should fit in her new room. Target also had a great deal going on. So, I've spent way more than I planned, but only have one more small thing to buy her.

$150 per kid. Well, plus stocking stuffers, so maybe really $175. Santa spends $75 and we spend $100.

@erinbaderin: same situation here. We don't buy stuff (other than clothes and a few new books) throughout the year, so Christmas is kind of a time for me to go a bit overboard. We bought DD (20 months) a play kitchen and a bunch of kitchen stuff from IKEA, plus some puzzles and books and other fun toys. lol. Way too much, but whatever!

I more so try to consider what he really wants, and price from there. I'm a big deal shopper too, so I can hopefully get more for less.
So far all I've bought for this year is a large Legos brick box for $40.
I guess we aim for around $100 but some years over and some under.

It's about $300 this year. Most of that is the cost of her kitchen. Her grandparents are all buying her accessories for that. It will vary year to year.

He's a year old so we didn't spend much this year. I'm sure that will change as he gets older and knows what's going on! Got him some stocking stuffers and his main gift is a radio flyer from grandma.

We are doing a room redo for DD who is still in a crib and has her brothers old stuff. So for her it's like 500+. I've been saving all year for it. She won't get any other presents from us, but grandparents load both kids up!
I probably won't even do anything for DS because he'll get so much from Grandparents--just stocking

Idk, but probably too much. I don't want to know lol. I can't help myself, at this time of year I go into a shopping frenzy and can't help but spend $ on all the things! Typically, we get DD one bigger gift (kitchen, dollhouse) and a handful of smaller things, and then a stocking. I also buy throughout the year a lot and save stuff for various random times and then everything I have forgotten about she gets on top of it. DH and I don't coordinate either, so he buys stuff he wants to give and I buy the practical stuff that will get the most use! I always said I wouldn't go overboard and every year I go overboard. We don't do gifts for anyone else really except kids, so that helps a bit.

My son's only 14 months and we're not big gift givers, so we'll probably just do a stocking. Especially because I know the grandparents will get him gifts.

After the election, I know I'm making a point to buy some books that feature minorities as main characters, not sure beyond that. Probably more mittens as we'll likely have lost a set or two by that point. :silly: I'd guess around $40

I think last year I spent around $200? IDK, his birthday is fairly close to Christmas (it's actually today!) and I end up buying a lot of stuff all together. This year I'll spend less, maybe $100, just because he hasn't been super interested in toys. I hate spending money on stuff he's not going to get much use out of . And he'll get a lot of stuff from all of our families for birthday and Christmas.

@Truth Bombs: Using our usual party line - I have a strict budget for my child's college savings, but when it comes to gifts and clothes things get a little fuzzy :silly:

We spend around $200, give or take a little. I usually buy one big gift (around $100) and then pepper in a mix of necessities and fun little stuff. The problem is I will finish Christmas shopping early and then my husband will go buy DS all this random stuff. It's super helpful.

@Truth Bombs: no way! I'd love to spend more but 1) I never start early enough 2) we live in a small house and don't want that much crap 3) my mom can't control herself, so they're getting plenty haha. The bigger they get and the more expensive their wants, I'm sure my number will skyrocket!

About $160-$170. I didn't set a budget beforehand. Since being finished with Christmas shopping in early October, DH has purchased two toys and a bunch of books that could have easily been saved for Christmas since LO is not developmentally ready for them. I may wrap those back up and put those under the tree too!
