My mom goes above and beyond. Before DD was 10 months my mom watched her 3+ days a week. We were actually okay with her going to daycare earlier but my mom was the one that offered to watch her for longer. Now my mom does pick up's for us and still watches her a lot too.

My in-laws would totally help, but they live a little further away and don't drive so we ask them less.

My mom retired when I had DS1 to help out. She watched him 5 days a week, which DH and I worked.

Now that we have DS2, I'm working 4 days a week. She watches both boys all 4 days.

She's the greatest.

A lot... My parents live 2 minutes away and are a huge help for date nights, appointments, or overnights.

My ILs live 5 hours away but are a big help when we are together. Actually we are going to Disney World with our toddler in a few weeks and leaving our 6 month old at home with them. They are awesome!

They don't, but I think they would if we asked them.
MIL picks up her daughter's kids from school three times a week and stays until their parents finish work, and she does the same for one of her son's kids once a week. My parents and step parents help out with my sisters' kids a lot too. So they all help out when they can.

Both of our parents live in different countries, so obviously, they don't help. But if we lived near them, I think they would help quite a bit as they help out with the local nieces and nephews.

MIL retired just to watch our son. When the twins were born I started looking for help but she didnt want anyone at her house. So we sent my 2yr old to preschool .and she watches the twins 5 days a week. I work PT and dh works FT. We are super appreciative .

My MIL watches them for a date night quarterly when we see them, since they live across the country. It's lovely, my MIL is great with them at any age.

My parents live an hour and a half away and will stay over night once every 6-8 weeks since it's too late to drive home when we get back from a event. I try not to take advantage of this too often since they are not retired and still have a business to run. They also have gotten more and more confident with the boys as they have gotten older.

I just started using a sitter, and she is pretty much the greatest thing ever. She takes them for a few hours on her days off so I can get some work done.

My mom watches DD 4 days/week. It was supposed to be 3, but my mom hates the idea of DD being in daycare. Super helpful but stressful because I always feel like I owe her. I'm also a little jealous of the bond they have since they're together so frequently. Inlaws are both far away and not able to help.

Both sets of parents are two hours away. However, DH travels for work, and my parents both work full time, so they just don't babysit. They'll watch the kids if we want a date night when we're visiting but we usually put the kids to bed before going out.
My inlaws have come up multiple times to stay with me while DH is away, and we've left DD1 with them for a few days when we went away.

when I worked full time, my MIL who is retired came and stayed with us 4 nights a week to basically nanny for us- now that I SAH they will watch DD for an hour or two/three for appointments and things like that. My mom and dad both work full time so we don't get much from them but they've watched her for a couple hours here and there for us to have date nights (they live in town and closer to where we'd go eat vs. my in laws)

Until a few months ago my parents were not local and didn't really help at all beyond an every-several-months date night when they were staying with us for the weekend.

Now they live in our city and they generally pick LO up from daycare twice/week, will often watch her if she is sick, and watch her for date nights approx once every 1-2 months. It is incredibly helpful. We don't really NEED them to pick her up from daycare generally (I have no problem making daycare pickup most of the time) but they like spending extra time with her so that is sort of... not necessary but nice. But the fact that my mom has stayed home with her 3 days in the last 2 months when she was sick so that my husband and I didn't have to take off work? Unbelievably helpful. Plus just knowing they are around and they could pick her up if I got stuck at work, or whatever.

But also, my LO is 21 months and I know she totally exhausts them lol. They're in pretty good shape but toddlers are still crazy. I do realize that if I have another kid it is very likely they won't be able to help as much as they do now just because 2 is so much more work.

My mom takes the girls once a week usually. Plus they are our date night sitters/helpers. It's always good help. My parents are rocking this grandparent thing. (They both work FT too!) My in-laws are emergency only babysitters. I don't think my kids have been with my MIL for more than an hour alone.

My parents and ILs live 1-1.5 hours away. My mom does most of the babysitting. Usually if I have a doctor's appointment or something like that. She will stay with us a night or two. She does visit other times too and will watch them so we can grab dinner and that is usually like a birthday or anniversary present. My dad has so physical disabilities and needs his wife to take care of him so with the distance it's not really an option. They would in an emergency though.
IL's have never and will never watch them. We asked for help in an emergency once and MIL agreed then never showed and refused to even discuss it. We learned our lesson!

Both my mother and MIL watch DS 1 day a week each. It is so helpful financially, plus they have such a close bond with our son.

I hope they can handle 2 on their own! I'll be home this summer on maternity leave but starting in sept or October they will watch a 3 year old and 4 month old!

My mom helps when daycare is closed and when DD is sick and out of daycare for an extended time. So....we all had the flu and she came and held DD.

My MIL works 3 days a week and takes care of our nephew 2 days a week. She's usually pretty wiped out because, frankly our 15 month old nephew does not play independently at.all. My SIL has high needs for help. My other SIL also needs frequent child care needs. Long story short, in laws are worn thin and we do not count on them. We only ask them to sit if they ask to see DD...we drop her off and go on a 1-2 hour date!

My parents live 3 hours away but they're great at coming to watch B when we need them. I try not to ask them too often because they kind of annoy me (them babysitting means them staying over) but it's nice to be able to call them to come down if we need a date night. They've also been here for the past 3 days because he's been sick and it's been so helpful.

My mom is 8 hours away, so very little. Even when we're together my nephew takes priority. I feel slighted but can't blame her since she's his childcare so im sure it's natural and not intentional.

My inlaws are good in emergency situations and that's it. They are not dependable on a reoccuring scenario.

My in-laws have never watched the kids. I've asked MIL but she refuses. FIL is 90 and obviously not on my call list.

My parents watch them when they come to visit, but they live ten hours away.
