My son has taken 3 bottles that are 6 oz of breastmilk each at daycare form 5-11 months. And he nurses in the morning and before bed, so it's hard to say how much he gets then.

Interesting I am just trying to figure this out today. I started weaning on Monday and today was the first day Of daycare drop off/back to work for me. He was 16lb at his 3 month appt and I sent him with 3 4oz bottles and I am definitely thinking he will be underfed (the teacher implied similarly :bummed: ).

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh gosh, at this point it was so long ago. Lol. He's almost two now. I remember how much he was eating but couldn't tell you what he weighed at the time without going back to look at his medical records.
If I had to guess, that sounds about right. 12 Hours by 12 weeks also has a formula for how much they should be eating during the day in order to sleep well at night. I can't tell you the exact formula, but it works out to at least 24 oz in a 12 hour wake period.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I haven't got a clue because I don't bother getting her weighed! I didn't with E, either. I just feed her when she's hungry, stop feeding her when she loses interest and add another ounce to her bottles when she starts draining them regularly. If I can settle her in the night with just her dummy (paci), I do. If she wont settle, I give her a bottle.

@Cherrybee: @SweetiePie: interesting... I'm going to experiment with a larger night time bottle. In the evenings he usually gets BM, but the last several days he's needed an extra bottle to sleep all night. I bet going to bed fuller would eliminate this relatively new MOTN feed.

@Cherrybee: @SweetiePie: are your LO's eating relatively close to the 2- 2.5 times their weight a day?

By 4 months my son was on a 4 hour schedule drinking 7oz per bottle on average.
So 4 bottles (7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm).
28oz total in a day (of course some days a little more and some days a little less).

S has 7oz bottles every 3hrs during the day (5 bottles) and goes through at night. She usually leaves 1/2oz in each bottle.....

LO weighs 16 lbs and today I am sending him to daycare with 5 oz of formula. He was getting 4 oz, but one of his daycare teachers thinks he could drink more and DH read he should have 2- 2.5 times his weight. He eats 6-7 times a day: morning, 3-4 bottles at daycare, 1-2 times in the evening, and dream/MOTN.

I'm definitely drying up and by Saturday I think he will be EFF. At that point I will switch him to Med Flow nipples.

How much did/ does your 4 month old eat? Did you use med or fast flow nipples by then?

Oops, wrong board
