P eats less than your lo for sure, solids anyways. We nurse on demand & she gets breakfast & dinner kind of, she just doesn't really care to eat. Lol

Until 1 year of age their needed nutrition is received from bm/formula & breastfed babies don't even really "need" solids given they're still gaining & growing. Breastmilk is going to be higher in fat & calories than solids are. :)

My 8 month old eats more than yours, but he just really likes to eat. He has (4) 7oz bottles in a 24 hr period and eats 3 full meals a day. Breakfast is an egg yolk, 1/3 slice of toast and typically a piece of fruit, like the size of a strawberry. Lunch and dinner are similarly sized. I wouldn't worry about how much your LO eats, unless your ped is. Grandmas are crazy. It's a fact.

LO is 8.5 months and she nurses 6x a day. She has 3 solid meals and one snack. She has about 3-4oz of food, but lately it has been hard to tell because she has been eating a lot of table food (with a lot going on the floor). I feed LO until she blocks my hand. I think it was a little before 8 months that her appetite grew quite a bit. You know your LO best. I think you mentioned that LO didnt start eating until 6 months so it will probably take her time to move up in how much solids she takes.

Sounds like your baby is eating plenty!

My LO is 7.5 months and on the smaller side. He usually has four 5 oz bottles during the day, one small bottle (3 oz) when he first wakes) and a variable overnight 5 oz bottle. So anywhere between 23-28 oz a day. He has three solid meals a day - probably a total of 5 oz of food -- purees usually 2 oz or cereal 2 oz....and then some finger food for exploring....he doesn't actually "eat" much of the finger foods.

Our LO is 8 months old and he nurses once a day (AM) and has three seven ounce bottles, so I'm assuming around 25 or so oz of breastmilk per day. In addition, he usually eats anywhere from 8-10 oz of food spread out over 3 meals. I would say as long as your LO seems happy and healthy, that's all that matters at this point.

I think back in the day, there were a lot less "rules" around feeding babies, so solids were introduced sooner. She's probably just going on what she remembers...Who knows, maybe when we're grandmas, the trends will change or there will be new studies and we'll be the outdated ones?

At 8 months my LO has three 5 oz bottles of breastmilk during the day, in addition to 3-5 nursing sessions. My LO eats less than yours, not that we haven't offered but she's not that into eating. She probably has about 2-3oz. of food a day.

I think milk/formula is the most important in the first 12 months, according to my pediatrician and what I've read. And isn't there a saying, "food before one is just for fun"? I think grandmas always *think* they know what works best, but are not always right.

my mom keeps making comments that she doesnt think my baby eats enough. I usually ignore her because she always have different opinions from me such as wanting to start solids way earlier than I wanted to etc..
Currently my 8 month old has 4 bottles (6oz each) of breast milk & formula during the day as well as 2 solid meal of fruit/veggies puree or yogurt (4-5oz each) and then I breastfeed her on demand the rest of the evening and night.

She is gaining weight okay and her doctor is happy. but my mom keeps saying she needs more food and less milk. and by food she means cereal, and table food. but I thought breastmilk or formula should be her main diet til she turns 12 months.
