My dog is about 30 lbs. and gets a little less than a cup twice a day. I think he's a senior now, as he just turned 9 last week. What age is senior for dog? Actually, I just remembered the vet last fall did a geriatric exam for him (more critical exam) so perhaps 8 is considered a senior?

Our lab is 8 years old and 65 lbs. She gets one scoop out of a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co cup once a day. I have no idea what that amount is. We give her two scoops the days she hunts. She also gets table scraps regularly.

We normally feed our 70 lb dog 2 cups twice a day but we pretty much free feed. Somedays she will only eat 1 cup all day, other days she'll eat all four cups and we'll give her an extra cup and she'll eat that too! But she's a healthy weight for her frame, so we just go with it! I wish I could self-regulate like she does!!

@Mae: @hotchildinthecity: idk how true it is, but I heard lower quality dog foods spray chemicals on their kibble to make it more enticing/tasty. I bet they do that w/ cat food ,
Too, and that's why they prefer the shit food over the good stuff :T

My cat has a small bowl (about the size of a cup measurement) which we fill each night before bed. She self-regulates, and probably eats about 1/3 - 1/2 of it in a 24 hours period. She's ten years old!

@hotchildinthecity: Yep, we're on it! That's honestly sort of the problem. Our cat got sick about 2 years ago and lost a lot of weight and since then we've been very careful to feed the cats high quality food. But they prefer the shit. lol. We've had to switch a few times because we've just never found anything they like as much as they like cheap food. And they'll be okay with something for a few months... then suddenly refuse to eat it anymore. Stubborn! hah
