Most of the foods LO will eat are grains/carbs - she eats rice (not cereal, actual rice), oatmeal, Cheerios, pasta. Again, at this point while she's still nursing, I just give her the solids that she'll eat.

@Zbug: I think iron fortified oatmeal is really good, if you aren't giving some kind of iron supplement. I found that LO wasn't eating enough (in general) for iron rich "real' foods to make a difference, but iron-fortified oatmeal had more iron than I could get her to eat otherwise.

Sadie is 15 months, and she gets lots. She's incredibly picky, so I give her what she'll eat. She's still very healthy/normal weight/etc. I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

@Zbug, I used to worry that, too, but it's like one day, my daughter decided that broccoli is AWESOME. Especially if it comes from my plate....

R is 14 months and carbs are the only thing some days we can get her to eat. I am going to let her go to bed hungry. So we offer meat and veggie first. If she won't eat the veggies, then I give her noodles/pasta is she signs she wants more.

@blackbird: that's reassuring! She's only 8 mo, so most of her nutrition is coming from BM anyway. I was just worried that giving her oatmeal was preventing her from learning to love veggies.

Oatmeal is great! Mine is all over the place. Sometimes she gets whole wheat waffles or pancakes that I make and she also eats pasta, but that's really about it, unless I make a batch of banana bread for her. In the beginning, she ate a lot more than she does now. She's really taken to veggies and fruits and such more. Since her diet is becoming more balanced, I don't worry about the lack of nutrients so much anymore

Thanks all! Ok I don't think she's having more than a few tbsps dry, but I don't actually measure it out. I just feel like she should have more vegetables/fruit each day than oatmeal, but I don't think that's happening...

LO is 7 months & she eats about 2 tbsp of oatmeal (before adding milk) every morning. It's not her absolute favorite but she does like it quite a bit. We mix it 50/50 with purées. Then for dinner she typically has just purées. We have been doing puffs a lot lately though for every 5 she picks up, only one makes it in her mouth. We have the Happy Baby puffs which are made with brown rice & no sugar or gluten.

I make her oatmeal but mixed with purees rather than milk/formula. I kind of treat it as a thickening agent, so that they aren't so runny. I'd say she generally eats ~4 tbsp dry oatmeal per day (I have no idea what that works out to prepared). And then some days she'll also have 1/4 or 1/2 slice of toast.

I don't give her any yet (she's 14 months now). We'll start as soon as she gets her molars, so probably 18 months-ish? She eats vegetables, fruits, eggs, and seeds. We do give her quinoa but that's technically a seed, not a grain.

Adding fruits and veggies to her oatmeal sounds like a good idea to get her to them!

DD (8 mo) wasn't a huge fan of solids until we tried oatmeal at 7 months. She loves oatmeal! She will usually only eat a few bites of other food (usually homemade purees and sometimes pouches). I usually start off with adding just a bit of vegetable/fruit to the oatmeal and gradually add more as she's eating. This works out pretty well, but I'm worries I'm giving her too much grains. Is this a thing? I will let her have oatmeal (+puree) for breakfast and dinner. For lunch, I just offer straight vegetable/fruit but she doesn't eat much of it.

How many servings of grains do you give your LO?
