We cloth diaper during the day; use disposables at night and when he has a bad rash & needs Triple Paste. Our stash is worth more, but we got a lot as gifts. I may end up buying 6 more fitteds and maybe a couple more covers, so that will probably be around $100 more. We use the blue refill ring, and just wrap a regular kitchen trash bag around it. You can get a box of 25 trash bags for less than $3, and they fit way more diapers than the $9 diaper genie refills! We were gifted a lot of diapers before Sadie was born & my parents have bought us a couple boxes since she's grown. I think I've bought two boxes of diapers total, so probably around $40. If I would buy the store brand, it'd be cheaper, but I have to get the most expensive diapers out there (Swaddlers) because Sadie is a MASSIVE pee-er... it's ridiculous. And, so far I've bought two of the 500 count wipes from Walmart. They're only $8 and they last a while. The diaper genie and initial refills were gifted, but I bought a box of trash bags to refill for $2.50. So, Sadie's 4 months & we've spent... Diapers: $40 Wipes: $16 Trash bags: $2.50 ...totaling $58.50. We didn't get a lot as gifts, so we've bought almost all the diapers ourselves. We probably had enough given that lasted us one month. Then we were buying two big boxes a month for awhile since he pooped a lot. 1st month: gifts 2-3 months: per month: 2 big boxes @ 50 ea plus one big box of wipes @ 20 ea = $120 x 2 = $240 4-8 months: per month: amazon subscribe & save $40 + $20 wipes = $60 x 5 = $300 wipe warmer: gift small trashcan: $30 and we just use grocery bags as trash bags: 0$ Total = $570 (yikes!) We've been lucky in that we were gifted loads of diapers initially and then my mom bought us diapers and wipes for most of her first year. We just finished the big box of wipes she got us months ago from Costco. So, how much money we have spent has been about $300, but I wouldn't know how much if you calculated how much we've been gifted diapers. We got lucky! Daycare also provides diapers and wipes so that's HUGE. At home we use washcloth in lieu of wipes. We use a diaper genie but that was gifted. We received disposable diapers, wipes, a diaper genie, genie refills, wipes warmer, changing pad, and changing pad covers as gifts. We use disposables and since our daycare provides diapers and wipes, we go through diapers very slowly in our household. So slowly, in fact, that we are still going through diapers and wipes that we got as gifts! We haven't spent any money on diapers yet. We have purchased a few diaper genie refill packs. But that's it! So, for us, ~$50 so far.
