I pay $140/month for me and dd. I teach, so good insurance. I think 500 deductible, 1200 out of pocket? DH provides his own because they offered him cheap, ok insurance for less than adding him to mine as part of his grad assistantship.
We both miss living somewhere with universal healthcare though :p

We pay right around $800 a month for the 3 of us. $2500 deductible $30-$50 copays. It sucks. We usually spend another $800/month in copays, prescriptions and payments to the hospital for testing we had done on my son last year that wasn't covered but necessary.

Between $350 and $375, but we are also assessed a $150 monthly fee on top of that for me to be covered. Once I have this baby, I'm going on my employee health plan. It has a lower deductible but the maternity coverage is poor.

Ours is ~$160 per month and really good. No more than $25 co-pay for anything outpatient, and all the in-patient stuff is covered over our $200 deductible. It is the one and only no-catch, real perk we get as teaching assistants at our university. We're only on it until September, though, because next year I won't be teaching. I'm nervous to see what DH's looks like!

@yoursilverlining: yes to public university healthcare! Somehow, we managed to get the same health benefits as professors have, and it is ah-ma-zing. I'm sad to be leaving it next year!

Ours is $340/month with a $5k deductible and $6.5k max OOP. No copays, but we pay everything up to $5k. It sucks, but was the best option of the 4 insurers we could choose from. Every company I've worked for has been on a HDHP. My employer contributed $600/year to my HSA and I can contribute enough per year to cover the max OOP without exceeding IRS regs, so if you take into account the small tax benefit there, it's not quite as bad as it sounds, but we definitely meet our max OOP every year.

I think when we all merge to DHs plan it will be $200 bi monthly...

Ours is $335 per month for family coverage thru DHs job. It's a hdhp.
4000 family deductible and 6500 max OOP (see below)
We pay the negotiated rate until we hit the deductible and then it's 10% co insurance after that until we hit max OOP. (For example a pedi office visit is about $60)
we have only met the deductible once for LO's birth

The big kicker is that DHs work fully funds the max OOP via a yearly HSA contribution.

Does anyone know the recommended percentage of health insurance on total income?

Eta: I found a figure, if your share of premiums is more than 9.5% of household income that is considered unaffordable. Full article at bankrate.com.

We pay $160 a month for a family of 5 for health, dental, and vision.

We have a $300 deductible for the family, and then insurance covers everything 90/10 up until 2,000 max out of pocket. After that, they cover 100%.

No co-pays, except for ER (I believe) which is $50. We have $2 prescriptions.

DD was recently admitted to the hospital and had x-rays, an IV, and several medications and we have to pay about $350.

We are so blessed with incredible health insurance.

My husbands is completely free so all 3 of us are under that. $30 co pays for our primary, $60 for specialists, $750 for hospital admissions. No deductible and 100% covered after copay. This is an HMO.

I am a nurse- we use to be covered under mine. It was $77/month for just me, when I added my husband and baby it end up being $275/month. My copays for our primary and urgent care for $20, $50 for ER. No deductible and paid 100%. HMO. So copays were less but since my husbands is free we switched to his.

I've had really good luck with my HMO's since we have no deductibles. (minus infertility that I paid 100% Out of pocket for IVF) but I otherwise I have had 2 surgeries I only had to pay a $60 copay for. It cost $250 total to have my baby. All prenatal visits free.

I have a subsidized HDHP plan through my employer. I pay about $40/month for me and LOs. We have a deductible of $3000 and after that, we pay 10% coinsurance up to a max of $5000. I think this is pretty reasonable! The only sucky thing is DH can't be on our plan so he has a separate premium ($80/month) and separate deductible and OOP max.

My family of 4 is all on my insurance. I'm a teacher and our state has really good state insurance for teachers. We pay about $450 a month, but all well visits are free, sick visits are $10, both of my births were $10. I don't even know what our deductible is, but our OOP max for the year is low, like $3000 for the whole family so I think that's great. We've never come close to that, since maternity is covered 100%, but it's nice to know we won't go bankrupt if one of us gets cancer.

DH's covers himself and dependents without a premium. Mine covers me without a premium but would have costed to add LO. I also have DH's as secondary insurance because my plan covers most at 80% and his at 90%. Doesn't cost extra for the secondary insurance. Both high deductible plans though. Overall I feel very lucky.

$30/ month, no deductible HMO. Covers me and the kids, and secondary for D. No co-pay for office visits (pedi, PCP or OBGYN) $25 for specialists. ER visits are $50, which is waived if you are admitted to the hospital. My co-pay for my second pregnancy, including L&D, was $25.

I work for the state. My pay isn't great, and paid maternity leave is not a thing, but the health benefits are a HUGE perk.

For two 30 yr old adults and one toddler my work pays $900/m for medical and another $175/m for dental (I know this because I am quasi-HR). We were able to take the $900 they pay and enroll into either an HMO or a HDHP PPO with a $7K deductible and $13K OOP maximum. We went with the HMO. My work covers 100% of the premium cost, and we feel so so fortunate.
