Oh, and it depends if the heating ducts are in good shape.</p> <p>In my old house, we didn't have a cap on the fire place and we had a few holes in our duct work. Our house was much smaller but our gas bill was $150-200 every month. It was an old house but had a new furnace just to give you an idea. Our house now is pretty big but is very energy efficient. Luckily, our summers aren't too warm so we don't need AC. </p>
