I think I spent less than $500. I'm a lawyer, but I'm never in a courtroom so there was no need to spend $$ on a suit. I think I bought several pairs of dress pants from Motherhood Maternity for about $25 each. I got by with just one pair of jeans (on sale at Kohl's). I only had a handful of sweaters and knit tops (maybe 10?) so I got pretty sick of wearing the same thing over and over again, but I was determined not to spend a ton of $$ on a wardrobe I'd only use for a few months. I also tried to buy pieces that were more flow-y and forgiving around the middle but not necessarily "maternity" so I could wear them post-baby (and here I am, 5.5 months PP and still wearing them... I miss my old body. Le sigh).

I think I spent about 800 over the course of my pregnancy. I should have avoided buying some stuff, especially dresses, early on, because the stuff I bought early didn't fit by the end of my pregnancy. The most worn stuff was pants - three pairs for work and two casual pairs, and knit skirts and tank tops from old navy- almost the only thing I wore for the last month (and I'm still wearing them a ton now 5 weeks post-partum).

Around $100- 4 pairs of maternity scrubs and tshirts.
My sis gave me a whole thing of everyday maternity clothes (shirts and jeans). Good thing we are both the same size.

I would say between my two pregnancies I've spent about $800; which includes several pieces that are designed for nursing (pajamas and tops). I find this pretty good considering DD was born April 1 so my wardrobe was fall/winter and am due Sept 16 so I had to buy spring/summer this time around. Luckily I can wear jeans to work and was able to make use of most of my bottoms from the first time. I only bought things that were 1) on sale or 2) found at the consignment store or good will.

I've probably spent $350. My office is really casual so I can get away with more. I feel bad for you girls in formal jobs those suits can be so expensive!

@yoursilverlining: Where did you find good maternity suits? I'm in a clerkship and will be all through my pregnancy, so I was wandering about where to find some lawyery clothes.

1 pair of maternity jeans from F21 $12?
Maternity sweats, tank top, black dress pants from ON $30?
2 nursing bras from La Leche League $30?
Bella Band from Tar-jay ~$14?

Total def under $100. It was winter so I lived in leggings and empire waisted dresses. And my SIL gave me 2 dresses and one top.

It sucked wearing the same 3-4 outfits over and over but I refused to spend more on maternity clothes.

@MsLipGloss: so glad that there is someone else in the same bucket! I was starting to feel like a frivolous spender. I openly admit that I spent too much on casual clothes though. I only wear them on the weekends when I am out and about, and I find that I wear my maternity shorts allllll the time because they are the most comfortable things ever invented and i wear no dresses. Sad because the dresses I bought are cute!

I'm pretty sure I've spent well over $500, but I have to dress up for work everyday, so I can't get away with just buying t-shirts, jeans and yoga pants. Luckily the last three months have been summer vacation, so I've been able to get by with 3 pairs of maternity shorts. But with school starting, I've bought these maternity things:

* 2 pairs of capris
* 2 pairs of black pants
* 2 pairs of khaki pants
* 2 pairs of jeans
* 2 pairs of leggings
* 1 pair of pj's
* 1 denim skirt
* 5 dresses
* 10 tops
* 2 sweaters

Everything has been on sale or clearance from Target, ON and Gap. I have no desire to add it up, but it's not insignificant.

Ugh, it was over $1400. :/

I go to arbitrations (like court) at least once a week for work, so I had to buy a whole new professional wardrobe. Suits be expensive, yo!

@MrsJYW: I definitely bought a couple of wrap dresses in a size larger than normal. I can still wear 2 of them at 35 weeks! :) I plan to use them postpartum as well . . . just so hard to know what will fit when I go back to work.

@JessLC: I am right there with you - and almost all of it was for work clothes (professional office) - just a couple of weekend dresses. I also had to order a couple of pairs of shoes in a half-size larger, to accomodate my swelling feet, and a couple of bras for mah (slightly larger) bewbs.

I'm really pleased I only spent $230 on my entire maternity wardrobe.
$100 on 2 pairs of jeans from Loft & Gap
$70 on 5 tops from Old Navy & Target
$30 on a maxi dress from Old Navy
$30 on a bra from Nordstrom Rack

I'm sick of wearing the same 5 tops over and over, but I really didn't find anything I thought was cute. It helped that I was able to wear a lot of my regular clothes until about 28 weeks. There are about 2-3 of my regular tops that I can still wear at 38 weeks but the maternity ones look nicer at this point.

I can't wait until I can wear my pre-pregnancy jeans again... I hate the 2 pairs I bought! The fit is horrible and they're so uncomfortable!

I spent more than I wanted as well, but that always happens for me.

I didn't have to invest in more formal wear, like dressy slacks, skirts or blazers because my workplace was casual. I had unexpected expenses in shoes though, because I did get swollen feet/ankles and none of my boots fit in the fall.

I think around $300-400... could be more. I haven't been keeping track. I have jeans, shorts, capri jeans, couple of dresses, couple of tanks, 5-6 shirts. Hoping that will last me the last three months, but I can't resist sometimes!

I spent...
$100 gap mat for a pair of jeans, pajama pants, 3 long sleeve shirts and a cami
$150 at Macy's for 2 pea in the pod shirts, a pair of jeans, a cami
$100 at motherhood for 2 packs of undies, a sweater, nursing pajamas

That lasted me along with my regular clothes stretched over my belly all fall, winter and spring. I hated all of those clothes so much by 30 weeks! And I did laundry every other day. My coats I could still wear or else I didn't zip them. Also, I'm a SAHM so I didn't have to buy work mat. clothes or else I probably would have spent a ton more.

Not all that much because I just used alot of empire waist clothes as maternity clothes but now that I'm not pregnant I don't want to wear those clothes. When I look at myself in those clothes I just think big and pregnant, so I guess in a way it cost me those clothes.

Hmmm
8 maternity tanks/ts: $75
2 pairs of maternity shorts: $12
2 new bras: $30
2 yoga waist skirts: $30
6 pairs undies (no one told me my butt would grow too! ha) $20

All Gap/Old Navy/Liz Lange purchased on clearance or Ebay/thrift store (except for the undergarments!)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something... probably $180 for summer and I have some jeans I bought from a garage sale, a fall-ish jacket, and a few long sleeve ts from clearance when I found out I was pregnant in March.. so probably an additional $30 for fall adds.

I have been working part-time/from home for the past year so didn't have to buy any professional type clothes. I really feel for those of you who have had to!

I think I spent a little more than I wanted, and my mom even gave me a bunch of maternity since the ON where she lives carries it and the one here doesn't. I'm a teacher and have summer off so I scrub it most days in shorts and a tee shirt. As for buying on my own...(and I was adamant about not wearing maternity clothes for the longest time!)
A pair of white pants and khaki pants from motherhood
A pair of black dress capris from motherhood
A solid top from motherhood and 3 printed tops
A pair of maternity jeans from Gap
A maxi maternity from ON, a regular maxi from ON, 3 maternity dresses from ON *all on sale

That's about all I bought on my own. Everything else was given to me or borrowed. I can say this, I did buy maternity panties from motherhood and thought they would be a rip off, I totally wish I had bought more!

I had two pairs of jeans from motherhood: $40
two tees, two tanks from gap: $30
Old navy top: $7
Gap dress: $10
Motherhood tops: $30

That's it... I wore sweats and my husband's sweatshirts for the last few months!! I also had a ponte pant that worked perfectly with my growing belly. It was the dead of winter so I didn't buy much.

Between tanks/tees (8), work pants/shorts (8), maxi dresses, maternity dresses/skirts (6), new bras (4) - I think I'm around $500.

I don't think that's too bad for the amount of clothes I have... and I haven't bought anything that wasn't on sale or clearance at Gap, Motherhood Maternity, Target. I also tried to buy nonmaternity things that were pregnancy friendly to get more wear out of them in the future.

I'll def need to get some more leggings and a coat for the fall, but elsewise I think I'm set.
