Lo eats a yobaby whole milk yogurt a day. Well, 1/2 to 1. And shes been getting about 15 ounces of whole milk/day. She probably drinks a cup of water a day.

I'm a researcher so here is what I have found

http://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/feeding-nutrition/Pages/Why-Formula-Instead-of-Cows-Milk.aspx?nfstatus=401&nftoken=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&nfstatusdescription=ERROR%3a+No+local+token

http://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/feeding-nutrition/Pages/Sample-One-Day-Menu-for-a-One-Year-Old.aspx

http://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/feeding-nutrition/Pages/Low-Fat-Diets-For-Babies.aspx

So, the milk is less for calcium and more for the fats.

Liv is 11 months old as well, and she nurses morning and night. During the day with the nanny she gets two 4oz bottles of breastmilk before naps. Sometimes if I had a slow pumping day, Ill give her one bottle of breastmilk and one of rice milk. But no cows milk. I wont let her drink any, not even when shes a toddler. No judgment to those that do at all. Im just so disgusted by milk I cant bring myself to give it to her.

She eats cottage cheese (grosses me out too) and greek yogurt and cheese. But milk, no go. Her pedi told me it was fine if she never drinks any so long as she gets calcium and fats somewhere. He said the yogurt and cheese is fine for that. He doesnt give his kids milk either, but instead does Almond Milk. Ill try that for her at her 12 month appt so we're at the doctor in case she has a reaction

ETA - she also drinks like 2 sippy cups a day of water. Kid loves water

@yin: Thanks, friend! I've been spending all day researching and trying to figure out what to do: buy different soy fomulas to see if she'll take any of it, switch to a different kind of milk, etc.? Stresssss.

At that age my LO was drinking 4 5oz bottles of breast milk a day. He is also allergic to cow's milk, and he didn't like soy milk at first. He adjusted after a few weeks, and now he loves it.

Wishing you and BR the best. Hope she likes the tasty milk alternatives.

My LO is 10.5 months and at her 9 month apt the pediatrician said it was safe to get down to 2 nursings (morning and night) and 2 bottles of BM at daycare (5 ounces each). So I would guess she's getting around 20-25 ounces of BM per day.

Good luck trying the other milks! We recently have been giving my LO yogurt by the spoon, frozen yogurt bites, and string cheese and she loves it all!

@Andrea: It never crossed my mind to buy different kinds of milks (ie. I thought it had to be breastmilk or formula) and it for sure didn't cross my mind to make an awesome smoothie!

I will totally look into different milks and maybe blending some fruit into it.

I don't know if she should be drinking more milk since at around 1 year she only needs 16 oz of it. She could be getting calcium in other ways. It just seems like maybe she should be getting more liquid to stay hydrated? Have you tried different types of milk or making her a smoothie?

My son nurses 5 times a day and likely gets between 15 and 20 ounces. My son also refused the formula (neocate) at about that age. We have put him on neocate splash as a supplement (he needs the fats).

I remember my 3 y.o. drinking 4 8oz of formula a day after I weaned him off breast milk at 8 months. And this was Alimentum (hypoallergenic formula). He had dairy and soy protein allergies so this was our alternative. But I had been giving him the nasty-tasting formula since we found out he had the protein allergies around 3 months so he gets used to the taste. I did have to slowly add it into my breast milk so he didn't refuse it outright.

Oh, and I drank rice milk with my cereals while I was nursing him. It's pretty good! I got the Trader Joe's brand.

But if you're concerned about her calcium intake, you can always give her more foods with calcium in it or ask her pediatrician if there's a supplement she can take.

My lo still drinks 4 6 oz bottles, so that's 24. I give her bottles when she wakes up, after naps, and before bed. Maybe ill start decreasing how much I put in them if 16 oz is what she's supposed to be having.

typically babies that age are still drinking 16oz of milk a day. there are lots of other milks you can try -- hemp, almond, rice, coconut, etc. maybe she'd like those?

LO is about 10.5 months and is formula fed. She still drinks 5 bottles a day, each 6 ounces. In the past week we've noticed that she's not fully finishing them. She's not much of a water drinker (unless trying to drink bath and pool water count).

LO is almost 11 months old and BFs twice a day (wake up and bed time). Other than that, she gets no other milk during the day as she refuses soy formula (she's allergic to milk). She's a great eater and loves her solids but milk? Nope. This doesn't sound right to me even though she does drink a full Zo-Li cup of water throughout the day.

Shouldn't she be drinking more milk? Or is this the weaning process?
