Maybe try giving milk with meals and water in-between? My pedis advice for giving milk was to give it in a cup reserved just for milk, with meals, 4-6 oz each time. If they're eating an otherwise calcium and protein rich diet, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Oh, and she also said that most of her patients have had the most success weaning from BM to soy milk, then to cows milk. Soy is a little sweeter, like BM.

There are plenty of other things you can give for your los to get the needed nutrition they would get from milk so I wouldn't worry too much on them getting "enough". I do know milk should be limited to 2-3 cups a day though since it can interfere with iron absorption.

@tequiero21: Do they like yogurt? You can do whole milk yogurt in addition to the cheese, etc.

We are starting LO on milk, she turned 1 a week ago, but we are mixing it with breast milk. Right now she takes two 4 oz. straw cups of breast milk during the day and we are going to do half and half to get her used to the milk. Eventually she'll be on 8-10 oz. of whole milk and continue to nurse in the morning and evening indefinitely.

I'm trying to see how much my kids should be drinking milk. We are weaning off the breast and giving cows milk. They are not a fan, especially in a sippy cup. We feed them solids 3x a day and milk in between, so we feed milk 4x. When they wake up, twice during the day, and a bottle at night. Am I feeding them too much? They can eat but not crazy about milk and won't finish. Should I just give them other snacks? Like cheese and cracker or fruit? And maybe just feed them milk for day and night?
