Our ped said 16 oz, including cheese, yogurt, etc.

I think L gets somewhere close to that... probably between 12-16 oz. I was really worried at 12 months, because she was drinking 40+ oz of formula each day, I had no idea how I was going to cut her back to 16!

@oliviaoblivia: What is it with kids and cheese?? I can't put cheese on M's plate any more because she just eats every single piece of it and then FREAKS out screaming for more while ignoring every other thing on herplate.

Our pedi said around 16 oz, some days it's less some days its more. She goes in milk spurts. Luckily her favorite food is cheese...she loves it so I'm not worried about dairy intake.

@KT326: My lo had ZERO iron at his last blood draw! And he only drinks about 12 ounces a day...but he's little. We've been working hard on keeping dairy away from iron heavy meals and upping vitamin C to help with absorption.

Our dr said up to 24 oz at her 15 mo appt. but she's on the smaller side weight- wise. I think she's drink a gallon a day if we let her ;)

We had our 18 month appt yesterday and the Ped actually said there wasn't a certain amount he needed, that was surprising!

LO probably drinks about 12-14 oz a day, but only because we are still doing a bottle morning and evening (bad! I know) so we were talking about when we cut those and that he only drinks a few ounces from him straw cups, Ped said fine!

DS has low iron and we think it is because of his milk intake. He just turned two and was getting probably 18-24oz a day. We have cut it back to 10oz and go for another iron test in July.

Our pediatrician told us dairy can inhibit the absorption of iron and DS is going through a growth spurt which can be taxing on iron stores. With both of those combined it can lead to low iron.

The problem with more than I think 24 ounces is that diary inhibits absorption of iron and the fact that table food should become the main source of calories.

I have no idea, but both my kids drink an insane amount of milk. They're both on the high side for weight so we've switched to 1%... so LMW went straight from whole to 1% at around 18 months!

They ONLY drink milk at meals (water at all other times) to keep their intake down. And now we try to limit them to one refill and the rest is water, but they both whine for milk instead. :( Oh, and I only send water to daycare, so they only drink milk at breakfast and dinner on weekdays!

We are somewhere around 16-20 oz. Our ped was happy with that in combination with any yogurt/cheese he eats.

We are still using bottles though (yikes, I know) and I suspect his milk consumption will go down once he finally figures out straw cups.

We are at the lower end, where LO only drinks about 12oz of milk a day. He is pretty small but our pediatrician did not seem too concerned with him getting any more, so I think there's a wide range when it comes to milk consumption.

My ped says no more than 16-20 ounces/day, on the lower end if they are also getting other dairy products. It's not just about the caloric intke - I think too much milk can inhibit iron absorpttion.

DD (15 mo) probably drinks about 8-10 ounces per day. We offer milk at all meals - sometimes she drinks a lot, sometimes just a sip or two.

Our pedi said 12-24 ozs a day. R is always at the upper of this. She sucks it down at day care. On the weekends is probably more like 15ozs.

Our ped mentioned at our 15 month appt (when ds was taking in 24-30 oz) that we needed to cut down.

At 17 months, he drinks 18-20oz a day. Our ped mentioned that the avg at this age was 12-16 oz.

He's not overweight, but ped def mentioned that we could overdo milk intake too, so to be mindful of it.
