And I had been "hoping" for a boy because I KNEW I'd go crazy shopping for a little girl. </p> <p>Well, I'm only 15 weeks, and probably spent about $200-$300 so far (including a major score I got on a PPB diaper bag), and my mom probably about another $100-150. </p> <p>Most of it is because we went to Las Vegas with my aunt and gma last week, and with 4 ladies all excited about LO to come (1st grandchild on this side) we went outlet shopping. FYI - Las Vegas Premium Outlets has tons of baby shops!!! </p> <p>Mom and I also went a little NUTS at the Baby Gap sale, where they were having additional 40% off! Which btw, that almost NEVER happens in Orange County (from what all my mommy friends tell me). I've stocked up on basics only for up to 1 year old. I don't know if it sounds super selfish, but I can't imagine spending more on his/her clothes than I do on mine, since mine cost 10x the amount of fabric and will get 10x the amount of wear. I'm sure we'll be gifted lots, and as much as I like to browse the baby racks, I know I need to save more money for less exciting baby items. With so many things going unworn in the first year, I learned my lesson. I gave away so many things with the tags still on them.</p> <p>Now, I only buy when I am certain of the size and need. I don't see the point in having tons of clothes when they grow out of them and get wrecked at the playground. But we have gotten a significant amount of hand me downs from my SIL and her twins. </p> <p>That money has been all sale racks, only buying 1-2 pieces per age stage, and the rest clothes for 12-24 months since my nephews have slowed down their growing a lot and we have fewer clothes coming our way. We are about halfway there for having what we need this fall/winter. </p> <p>My advice is to keep an eye on the sale racks for a year ahead- your seasons will match up and that is when the mark downs will be the biggest. When I first started, I didn't plan out well when he was a newborn- I bought a few long sleeved 6 months clothes back in January, which put us right in the middle of summer when he grew into them :(</p> <p>For example, this summer I bought any heavy markdowns for 18 months in summer clothes. I have the closet space and am happy to only spend a couple dollars per piece. I got DS an adorable red pair teehee!! They had khaki skinnies, dark wash suspender skinnies, and blue chinos. I'm totally in love with the selection at H&amp;M. It starts at 4-6 months though, except for a few standard layette items like mini sweaters, knit pants and bodysuits.<br /> I saw the ones on ON too and totally wanted them! They sold out before I got to them.
