Thanks for the advice. I learned that I wasn't swaddling tight enough from a friend so that has been helping somewhat. Also I think her little nervous system is sliiightly (ever so slightly) more mature because she is getting a little easier. :)

LOL Literally NONE. My LO was a very awake little guy and when he fell asleep I would set him down and let him sleep until he woke up. I was on no schedule whatsoever and just followed him.

Even now, at 5 months old, he is a very awake and alert baby and his naps are random. His night sleep is very regular from 7 30pm to 6ish am with anywhere from 2-8 wakeups--boo 4 month sleep regression (just starting to improve). His naps are awful and when I tried to put him on a schedule it made things worse.

YOU are the mom. YOU know what is best for your newborn--all babies are a little different.

In my unimportant opinion the only thing you should feel like you are constantly doing with a newborn is feeding. Everything else should be a little more "go with the flow." If she isn't tired... try something else. If she takes a cat nap you should take one, too.

AND If you need a nap to be able to handle the way she (doesn't) nap--you should ask someone to hang out with her while you get some well deserved shut eye.

ETA: If he was fussy I did the 5s's a la Happiest Baby on the Block and it worked like a charm!

LO won't nap!!! It used to be that I didn't even have to think about it, she'd fall asleep in the car, in the swing, anywhere. While it's possible she's having her witching hour right now...all day she's gone in and out of sleep but no solid hour. She's crying right now while I bounce her in the bouncy chair.. nothing is helping at the moment.. (I already tried rocking her, picking her up and bouncing her, the swing, unwrapping her, wrapping her...

I suppose this is the result of me not getting her to nap throughout the day. I tried to get out of the house and take a walk for awhile today and now I'm paying for it.

Please make her sleep a long stretch tonight....
