We love it and it's important to us!</p> <p>I'd say we travel about every otherweekend spread between my parents (1 hr), his parents (3 hrs), my aunt and uncle (3 hrs), and good friends (2 hrs).</p> <p>Plus twice yearly meet ups with my college friends (2-3hrs) and Christmas with my extended family (3 hrs).</p> <p>Pre-baby, we usually did one 2 week international trip per year for vacation with long weekends camping or driving somewhere close-by scattered throughout the year. Most of our family lives nearby, and the rest that aren't require a few hours in the car. We visit my ILs 2-3 times a year and occasionally we have met up with them elsewhere. But we often manage to squeeze in a getaway. We also travel for vacation without seeing family. Besides quick weekend road trips (like within 2 hours), we haven't done any traveling that wasn't tied to family or work trips for over 2 years, and even that was for a wedding. Before we had kids we often combined visiting in-laws with pleasure travel - they live in England so we'd go there for a week and then go somewhere else on our own, since travel is so cheap once you're already in Europe. We did Normandy, Paris, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Morocco like this. If you count that as two separate trips then I guess it's more like 30%, since we also have been to Vegas 6 times in the last 6 years. I think the last time I actually traveled somewhere new was my honeymoon, which was 11 years ago. My wife's family lives in LA and my parents lived across the globe, so visiting both of them is almost a month of travel out of the year! </p>
