I assumed maternity leave would be the same. However, I can have up to 12 weeks off - unpaid. Fortunately I will have enough sick &amp; vacation time (fingers crossed) saved up to be able to take 8 of those weeks off paid. I'm unsure as to what I'll do after that. The Family Medical Leave act allows three months maternity leave. However, if I want a paycheck, I have to use a combination of accrued sick and annual leave. The rest was unpaid. With one hospital they let me stay home as long as 6 months before returning and with the other hospital, just 12 weeks. Story would be totally different in NJ or CA though as I believe those states pay 2/3 salary for some amount of time. </p>
