I took Amazon reviews with a grain of salt because I feel like most people want gear that can fly and make pancakes or else it gets 1 star -- totally unrealistic expectations. I found that the most recent edition of Baby Bargains was really thorough about safety issues, etc. and made ratings based on that as well as quality and price. There were only four car seat options, so that wasn't as difficult a decision. I'd seen the crib I wanted (Young America) before I got pregnant, but we shopped around to make sure it was the one I wanted. I did a lot of research on cloth diapers as well. I know all of these things meet strict safety guidelines, I was more concerned with quality, and ease of use. Which sounds bad, but I figure if the item had really good reviews from users and was a very popularly purchased item, those bases were covered. The car seat I picked out is a Graco and honestly, I picked it based on the pattern of the fabric and the fact that it was lightweight, had the handle I wanted, and snapped into a base. </p> <p>I'm wondering if I should take a step back and do more research though.. </p>
