I'm a SAHM too, DD watches 1 or 2 shows a day usually but sometimes no screen time. And maybe once a week for like 3 minutes I will let her look at pics/videos of herself on my phone or DH will let her move a spaceship in a game by touching the screen. She's 13.5 months old, and didn't really care about TV until she got sick about a month ago and all she wanted to do was sit on my lap & watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Jeopardy lol. We have the TV on in the evenings sometimes but not with kid shows and she doesn't usually pay much attention to our shows. At first we were staunchly against screen time but we have lightened up on the issue and she enjoys dancing to the songs so I don't mind letting her watch a bit.

It ebbs and flows here. Like, Friday, we let her watch The Hobbit with us. Who knew a two year old could stay up until midnight!?!

But usually we don't turn on the tv until she goes to bed. And I try to avoid and put off her requests for Big Bird and iPad. But sometimes a toddler just needs to watch tv so I can make some damn dinner!!!!

We have the tv on 2-3 times a day for a little while. He rarely sits to watch though unless he's sleepy. So I voted 30-60. We mostly watch Disney Jr.

None or very little during the week, but that's only because there's not a screen time option at daycare and she doesn't like tv. If she did like it and I stayed home, she would get a lot more, I'm sure.

None on a regular day, but if it's a day where she comes to the clinic with me or to a doctor appointment then the iPad is hers until we're done, an hour, whatever. Screen time sure has its place!

Around 20 months she had about 15-20 minutes once a week. And after she turned two she got some time on the iPad doing letter songs or endless alphabet/reader or counting apps - but not everyday. At a little over 2.5 years old I let her watch about 20-30 minutes every other day or so.

I'm a SAHM and I don't generally have the tv on during the day but DH does put it on when he gets home from work at 1600. LO (21 months) isn't too interested in the TV unless an animal show is on and I don't put the TV on for her.

When I was a full-time SAHM, I let him watch max of 60 minutes of TV each day, just because I needed the break. Now I'm working part-time 3 days a week so he won't watch anything on those days, average 30-60 minutes the other days. We also cancelled our cable so I'm not as tempted to turn it on since we just get basic channels now.

@Anagram: Same. LO will be 1 in a couple of weeks and doesn't get screen time. But turning on the tv doesn't really cross my mind. She's in daycare all week so I'm excited to play with her and read to her when we get home. On the weekends we run a lot of errands or go to the park/children's museum, so not a lot of time for tv then either.

During the week, usually none. On the weekends he watches You Tube videos (mainly Wheels on the Bus songs) in the mornings, totaling 20-30 mins. Sometimes he asks to watch them during the week but we usually say no. We only use the i-pad because he's really only interested in the nursery rhyme videos.

Well my LO is only 1 now, so she's still at basically never. I let her look at pictures and videos of herself on my phone sometimes but that's about twice a week for 2 minutes at a time.

I honestly don't even think about turning on the tv during the day, and I guess she's pretty good about playing independently while I get ready or cook.

Sometimes in the morning if he wakes up early and I'm not ready yet I will turn a movie on for him and he gets about 30 minutes then. In the evening he might get 20 minutes before our bedtime routine starts to calm down.

But this last week he was sick (ended up being roseola) and I was home with him alllll week. I now know every song in Frozen and could probably recite the entire Planes movie. :meh:

DD is at daycare full days during the week, so she rarely gets any screen time on weekdays. Weekends she often gets up to 1 hour -- 1 Daniel Tiger in the morning and one in the afternoon. She would love to have way more screen time, and recently she has started crying when her Daniel Tiger episodes end. (Luckily the crying is typically brief!)

I SAH and have a 4 month old so it's usually 3 shows a day. First thing in the morning - usually 2 shows in a row and then sometimes one while I cook dinner if needs be. Each show is about 25 mins so I voted 60-90. I don't watch tv myself until the evening once he's in bed. I feel bad but I need that time in the morning - I'm a better mom because of it!

We always have the tv on (usually on sports/news/etc. I usually give her a 30-60 minutes of cartoons in the morning, usually so I can just tidy up house for the day and enjoy a cup of coffee. Rainy/snowy days may get more. I can usually tell when she gets too much because she starts getting really antsy, like she has energy building up. That's when I say, ok, time to go play.

I think that as a WOHM she gets a lot. Partially because I feel like she needs a bit of down time and because our routine is pretty tight and I need her distracted sometimes.

Usually about 15-30 minutes in the morning while we get ready. Sometimes none, but if she wakes up early, it could be a full 30 minutes.

When DH gets home with her, if she's tired and needs a break they will watch a show for like 30 minutes. But some times I come home and they have dinner started or are outside playing.

And then sometimes before bed she gets a bit of TV. Lately she's been more into reading and she often will take us up on the offer for "more books" but no tv.

She hardly plays games on the tablet/phones any more so thats not really counted in there.

@winniebee: DD definitely got more screen time during the World Cup...every time there was a goal, she'd always yell, "yay, daddy!"

LO always wants tv as soon as we get home, so it doesn't give me an incentive to pick her up early from daycare! She usually gets 2 Curious George shows (22 minutes) and will play games on the ipad, but i now try to give her an option for one or the other.
