I feel like some babies are snackers and some are big meal babies. Definitely look at total daily consumption rather than how much she eats per bottle. At that age we were told normal was 24-30 oz/day but that some babies just aren't big eaters. My was consistently only eating 20-24 at that point and she was gaining okay so the doc wasn't worried.

@Sophs Mama: Cluster feeding is tough!! Go you! It sounds like you're feeding her the perfect amount. We were overfeeding our LO when we started supplementing, and she would still act hungry. I think some babes just really love to eat!

@littlejoy: yes, we feed her any time she wants it. Sometimes that means every hour sometimes once every 3 or 4 hours.

@Sophs Mama: 2-3 ounces at a time seems perfectly normal. We did a mixture of BM and formula, and she wasn't eating 4 ounces until 5 months. Are you feeding on demand?

@Tanjowen: hm, okay. Maybe I'll try weighing her later and then track her intake for a couple days to see if she's eating enough. Thanks!

@Anagram: we're using drop ins and the 0-3 month slow flow nipple. She tends to spit up, so I'm hesitant to change the flow of milk in case she spits up even more.

Are you still on a newborn flow nipple? Would moving up a level possibly get her to eat more? I didn't really start full-time bottle feeding till close to 3 months, and I think at that age, the target range was around 24 oz a day.

I have discovered that girls in general drink considerably less than boys. I believe the advice given by my pediatrician when we switched to formula was LO's weight x 2.5 oz for total amount per day and somewhere near that number.

If she's sleeping well, eating well and has plenty of wet diapers, I wouldn't be too worried. She sounds like she's doing great, and she'll likely hit a growth spurt soon and start drinking more.

My daughter is now 8 weeks old, formula fed, and usually only drinks 2-3 ounces per feeding. Sometimes she has 4, but not often enough for me to consistently make a 4oz bottle.

I feel like she should be eating more?

She sleeps a lot, and has no trouble sleeping 5 hours at night, waking to eat 2oz and then going back to sleep for another 3 hours.

Anyone else with a similar experience? Help a lady out. :bummed:
