@Dandelion: She has two that are about halfway in. It makes me nervous, too so she only gets very soft things and teeny tiny pieces. Meat makes me especially nervous because it's so hard to chew and dry. She's still nursing a ton, too!

@fussygal: how many teeth does your LO have? M just has one tooth, so I find it hard to trust him, even though deep down I know he wohld be fine.

For breakfast he eats a cereal bar or waffle and maybe some puffs and yogurt.

For lunch we'll either do a puree or a grilled cheese sandwich. He will get some sort of fruit.

For dinner he gets a pouch and some of the veggies we're eating. I don't trust that he can eat meat very well, but I do let him try it if I feel like it's soft enough.

He nurses all day everyday. I think it's going to be tough to wean this one.

D is 13.5 months and he been totally on solids since right before his birthday. I think he didn't really get into solids until around 9 months though.

On a typical day he eats:

Breakfast 1 with me - banana and sippy of milk
Breakfast 2 at daycare - yogurt (container of yobaby)
Lunch - some sort of protein (today was rotisserie chicken), a veggie (home puree or roasted squash or something), a mandarin orange cup, and a sippy of milk
Snack - WCM mozzarella stick and pouch
Dinner - Usually whatever we're eating. Unless he has a total meltdown like tonight due to teething. Tonight he ate a few bites of our pasta and chicken, some puffs, a yogurt, a few sips of a pouch and a banana.

Wow - it's so interesting to see these answers. I was curious because as I feed DD I always wonder what is "normal." I just feed her until she refuses and she's been scarfing down a LOT lately. I'm so shocked because she's just started warming up to food in the past few weeks and it's totally new territory for me.

She's 9 months and we do:
- Breakfast: Pieces of fruit like banana (maybe 1-2 inches) and bites of my oatmeal. Sometimes 1/2 to a full pouch of fruit. Some puffs (like 5-10, ha).
- Lunch: I'm mostly focusing on giving her breakfast and dinner right now so lunch is usually just small bits of whatever I'm eating.
- Dinner: Bites of whatever we're eating and 1/2 to a full pouch of food, or some pieces of avocado.

@Anagram: I love oatmeal and always feel like my servings are HUGE, too! ;)

@HabesBabe: Interesting about the teething crackers - I didn't know about the constipation! My main takeaway from those was that they are SO MESSY and STICKY (are they made of glue???), but she loves them!

@Leah: Ditto -with nursing and eating solids 2-3 times a day it feels like she's ALWAYS eating. Not idea where I'd regularly fit in a snack until breastfeeding lets up.

@twodoghouse: I think it's totally normal! Your LOs are about 1.5 months younger than my DD and we were in the exact same boat at that time. Some days she'd refuse everything and the days she did eat it was an ounce if we were very lucky. I wanted her to like food SO much (because um, it's delicious! Come on baby, get with it!) and I was super discouraged, but she randomly started coming around and it's gone from 0-60 in just a few weeks.

@anonysquire: How the heck is your kid eating apples? My LO is 11 months and only has two teeth, I can't imagine her eating something as tough as that. But maybe I'm overly fearful of choking.

@twodoghouse: i think there may be a bit of selection bias going on here. I feel like I've seen lots of people say their kids weren't that interested in solids until closer to a year. I really don't think kids *need* that nutrition until closer to a year and they all just go at their own pace.

My kids are 8 months and every other day or so they have about an oz of purées. We're limited to a couple things because they aren't interested in much. And eating more than once in a day causes huge discomfort over night. I sort of feel like something is wrong after reading this thread. :bummed: I guess I will bring it up with our ped again at their 9 month appt.

DS2-almost 8 months
Breakfast - little bowl of oatmeal
Lunch and dinner - 1-2 stage 2 purées
He'll also try a little bit of whatever we are eating like pancakes, burgers, avocado, etc.

DS1 - 2 years old (almost 28 months)
Totally varies. Some days he barely eats and other days he eats a ton. This started happening around the time he turned 2. He used to consistently eat a lot.

E is 7 months, he was eating 1 cube (of an ice cube tray) of fruit or veg purée and 1 Tbs of oatmeal at dinner time and about the same amount for breakfast. Then after two bouts of teething and two ear infections he was refusing all food. Tonight he ate part of three slices of pear which was a major victory

DD is 2 now and loved purees when she was 6 months to a year. She still asks for them now sometimes. She is very picky and eats less than her brother unless it's cheese. Lol. She would eat a lb of cheese of I let her

He feeds himself all solid food but we still spoon feed him anything that requires a utensil because we haven't started them yet

Wake up: Bottle
Breakfast: Bite size pieces of banana, pancake, scrambled egg, yogurt, oatmeal. Mix and match.
May have a small bottle in between
Lunch: bite size pieces of sandwich, fruit, leftover dinner, veggies. He MAY get a puree here if I'm low on ideas and want him to get some extra nutrition in. I spoon feed it.
Bottle
Dinner: bites of whatever we are having.
Bedtime: bottle.

@Mae: I guess I have too! Between that and our GI/feeding issues there hasn't been much solids eating going on here.

At 7 months old, LO is eating on a good day half of an ice cube size serving of puree 1-2 times, and on days I don't feel like trying just his 5 bottles. Tonight I got tired of the purees and offered him zucchini sticks since he originally did well with BLW and he actually ate one, so that was a victory.

Wow I thought my 9 month old was a big eater but apparently not in comparison!! She typically eats about 2 oz or so of purees (and/or oatmeal and/or yogurt) 3 times a day, plus sometimes puffs, teething wafers, and bites of our food. If we go out to a restaurant she eats bread, some of our food too and we order things like pancakes for her

My 12 month old eats a ton. She's eating about 16-19 oz. of formula per day (about to reduce that down), and 3 meals. We use little divided plates, and all 3 sections are full.

An average lunch for her would be: a clementine, 1/2 an avocado, and about 3/4 cup - 1 cup of beans + cashew cream + quinoa + tofu (or something similar).

I'm learning to relax about the amount of food my 10 month old LO eats!

Today he had maybe 4 or 5 small pieces of pineapple, and a few bites of the oatmeal I had for breakfast. For lunch, he had maybe 6 or 7 grapes (cut in small pieces), a few bites of toast with coconut oil, and maybe 5 or 6 chickpeas. For dinner, he had a few bites of macaroni in a vegan cream sauce, green beans and English peas. And today was a good day!!

He nurses 4 times in the day and once at night. I have no idea how to possibly add snacks to our routine because I feel like there's no time for it in the day and he'd be eating all day long! That's kinda weird to me.

Wow I"m amazed by how much other people's babies eat before a year old! I guess I've really been taking the "food before 1 is just for fun" to heart, especially because LO has not really been super into food yet. She's 7.5 months. She gets 4 bottles/day (around 28-32 oz). I offer food once per day usually, whenever it is convenient. Sometimes twice if we're home all day. She'll eat (at best) maybe 1/4-1/3 of a fruit/veg pouch or 1/6 pear or banana. Plus some puffs (but I only offer her like maybe 10 or so). She just seems awfully little to give her more than that, and she isn't that interested yet anyways :)

my son will be 10 months on the 16th :)

For breakfast he gets fruit purée thickened with a bit of cereal. It's about half a pouch. Then vanilla Greek yogurt. BUT the passed three days we've done toast or waffle instead of cereal and fruit. Then followed by yogurt.

Lunch is a few bites of what I'm having and a full fruit/veggie pouch.

Dinner is a couple bites of what we are having if it's something suitable. Then about half a purée pouch thickened a bit with cereal. Then yogurt.

He nurses a lot in there too. He's large. Haha
