We're both hoping to work right up until delivery. </p> <p>I'll take 12 weeks of FMLA starting at delivery (I get 5 weeks paid short term disability and should have PTO to cover the rest, so mine will all be paid. </p> <p>My husband will use vacation/sick days for a full week starting at delivery. Then he'll work just Tuesday and Thursday for the next 3-4 weeks. Then he'll be back to full time and I'll be home alone with baby for another 5 weeks.</p> <p>Then he's going to take 12 week unpaid FMLA. I think we've decided we'll overlap by 2 weeks so that we can have some time together and we're thinking of doing a trip to my grandmother's condo in Florida. So that'll leave him home alone with baby for 10 weeks after I go back to work.</p> <p>When his FMLA is up, the kiddo should be 5 months and then we're both back at work full time and kiddo is in daycare.</p> <p>Whew! The tricky part is that there's no way of knowing when I'll go into labor, so he can't tell his work when, exactly he'll need off. So right now he's planning to schedule off every M, W, F in Sept/Oct because it's easier for him to be able to come in unexpectedly than to be be unexpectedly unavailable. But, all things considered, I think we've got it really good. His work didn't count it as PTO or sick days...just gave him the time off as a freebie since our daughter came very early. I get 13 weeks paid from my job (law firm) and DW gets a semester (16 weeks) paid form her job (university). The university gives a semester to ALL parents, not just birth moms. It's great! So between the two, which will overlap about 8 weeks, we won't be sending our baby to day care until he is about 9 months (summer 2016).
